OK. I won't say lazy. But the fact is you didn't have to make anything. All you had to do was submit any video you'd made. In the end, they bent the rules so that almost anyone who'd ever made a video on YT and was a partner could have entered without making anything new.
So let me get this straight. Its okay, no, GOOD, that Victor made a video telling people to check out and vote for the "little guys". But it's BAD when he says not to vote for the "big guys". Umm, OK. That's the definition of contradiction, isn't it? So he can only have an opinion if you agree with it, otherwise he should keep his mouth shut. FYI: LIFE ISN'T FAIR. Never has been, never will be. I only watched a few of the vids, and am voting for Kumigar each day. And it's not wrong that I do it!
@SirReptitious No, you misunderstand. It's great that Victor drew attention to the little guys and featured a bunch of them, and encouraged users to consider them when voting. My point is, and this is a point that Victor makes himself with regards to subscriptions, is that you shouldn't be telling people to vote or not vote for anyone. You should be looking at as many vids as possible and voting based on who you think is the best/most deserving. I think he overstepped the mark a little
@hikotalk I guess we will have to agree to disagree then. Perhaps it's because I'm American and we cherish our "free speech" right so much, that I think it's OK for Victor to tell people TO or NOT TO vote for anyone. He can't MAKE anyone follow his opinion, so it's not like anyone is being "oppressed" or whatnot. MY opinion is that as many winners as possible should be Japanese and not gaijin. That is one of the reasons I am voting for Kumigar(but its one of the lesser reasons). I <3 Kumigar!
I talked with Victor the other day and told him that I hoped his video wouldn't ostracize him. I understand exactly what he's trying to say but, as we know, the message sent is never the message received. I'd hate for Victor to get kicked off of some X-mas lists for trying to do a good deed. Like you said, it's a lot of money. Someone having a lot of subscribers doesn't mean they have a lot of money. I think all of us would welcome 2 million yen to spend on video gear.
Anyone who thinks that what I did was an attack on them is simply self-centered and if they hate me for it or think it was some ploy they can kiss my youtube ass. Course I'm sure no one like that exists.
I think the problem is that there are people who are asking to be told how to vote, which defeats the point of being able to vote in the first place. So the results of the contest won't necessarily reflect what people thought of the videos as much as how that video creator played the YouTube political game.
@stormko Right, which is why I think the whole voting process for this is flawed from the start. They should get a panel of judges, people from YouTube and those running the creator's camp possibly, and give them the final say IMHO. The fact that YT messed up a number of entries and so on, and that those people were disadvantaged d by that goes to show how it doesn't work (and it implies that no one, not even the folks at YouTube actually WATCHED all the entries).
OK. Finished. The point I thought I had made but obviously some people did not get was that there was no point voting for the 15-17 or so top subscribed. 35 out of 90 go on to the next level. I am confident that the top subd I mentioned were in so voting for them at this point especially was basically like boring water into a full bucket. So I stand by my DON'T VOTE FOR US! We're OK! The only reason I named them and showed their sub sizes was to show my math/reasoning.
Lastly, you said you though it was tactless to say "Don't vote for A. Instead vote for B." However, the fact remains that you can only vote for B if you don't vote for A. You arguing delivery, not content. HOWEVER, on YT as in life, this is important. So I concede that I could have presented my argument in a more "political" way. I had wanted to get that video out days earlier but due to work pressure, I was not able to find the time until that day. Ended up rushing it anyway.
@Gimmeaflakeman It's nitpicking perhaps, but if you listed up the channels not to vote for, perhaps naming them and showing their sub counts and saying "consider whether you think these entries really NEED more votes in the final days" would have been more tactful (but much less interesting) than saying "DON'T VOTE FOR THESE CHANNELS". In the end of the day, it's a small point, and personally speaking, I think you are right - smaller channel entries will likely be overlooked which isn't fair

Too busy with other crap as usual.

Bullshit. You're just lazy.

@Gimmeaflakeman Maybe it has less to do with laziness, and more to do with refraining myself from making comments like these. (shrugs)

Thanks for the response, Hiko. Amazing that you'd dare do a response to someone so obviously evil and phony as me.
No, in all seriousness, I appreciate your thoughts -- especially your PUBLIC thoughts. :)
