i'm not even twelve yet and i've read "the catcher in the rye" it is now my favorite book. this scene with sunny the prostitute is the only "bad"(explicit) scene in the book and i think that this book isn't that contiversial at all besides all the swearing and stuff but who cares. i think that people shold stop being pussies and that this book should be required reading in every school.(but not every grade; 7th sounds good.)

The Catcher in the Rye was not meant to be read by kids in 7th grade, no offense. In order to understand the true meanings behind the book and really understand Holden, you have to have a level of maturity that middle-schoolers just don't have yet. Its cool that you can understand the words, but read it again in a few years and you'll have a much better understanding of the book.
