China is nowhere near as well equipped or trained as America's military. The only problem is that warfare can be done economically, financially, electronically, and asymmetrically. Imagine if we did have a war. China could sell its trillion dollars in US treasury bonds, immediately collapsing our economy, coupled with a cyber attack on our infrastructure, disabling power in the entire country.
We could lose millions of people from that alone, without a shot being fired. It would not be fun

Ad-manage a country with no government, a collapsed economy and chaos all around. What would prevent a government takeover. @labartic You do realize that the US has huge amounts of military assets spread all over the world, and enough conventional firepower to shut down the entire Chinese government. See, that's the key to US military supremacy around the world, force dispersal. Any potential aggresor could wipe the US mainland off the map, and we'd still be able to burn them to the ground. The Chinese know that, they aren't stupid, and that's why these wild "what if" scenarios are just that: scenarios.

They believe in overwhelming numbers to win battles (which isn't really smart considering the amount of casualties they will receive) whereas America believes "Hit where it matters". If China changes their tactics to follow the American standards, then both the Chinese and Americans are going to be destroyed on the battlefield, because they would be so good.

People can say whatever they want about US but as Mighty as China is they have one disadvantage. US has had decades of practice in actual combat situations. No matter how well your army is trained doesn't mean squat without being battle tested first. Nevertheless China is still formidable and shouldn't be taken lightly. China's advantage no doubt is their military forces which far surpasses anyone else. In the end though US nor China will win this one and take the rest of the world with it.
