s ong they put on facebook, on the azarbeycan music page.. but that particular video have a problem,, I can't hear very well. how I can get that song????
MY name is Nihal Haberstroh , that you could find me on facebook. I am in love with this singer.. she is amazing. I am from Turkey..but I am currently live in USA> best regards.
I think Azeri music which was created during soviet times is the result of unintended consequences of soviet empire. Jahangir jahangirov rauf Hajiyev, Haji kanammemedov , Great Uzeyir, alekber Tagiyev kara karayev etc these composers appeared just thanks to soviet civilization otherwise why your part of Azerbaijan couldnt use the same roots from folk music? Just soviet part could create such a wonderful pieces based on mugam and bayatilar dont your grandfather thinks so?
jissa683, I agree with you. The two halves of Azerbaijan developed very differently. I do think that the parts closer to the Caspian Sea were always more affluent. During Soviet times, musicians and singers were encouraged and respected in Soviet Azerbaijan, while they were largely ignored in the Iranian parts of Azerbaijan. The population was also much better educated in Soviet Azerbaijan. I keep hearing what a wonderful place Baku is, and I WILL visit very soon!
I can almost never listen to her without crying. I remember my grandmother (or Boyukmama) always saying "Musigi bu dir!" whenever she heard Shovket. There simply was no other singer. I have never been to Baku, although my whole family is from there, but Azeri music touches my heart like no other music.

Wonderful voice! I feel very lucky that I was growing listening to Shovket Alekperova, Rashid Beybudov, Muslim Magomayev. We were granted of talants!
