Gerald could always sing his ass off. I've always thought Gerald Albright from the Manhattans and Felipe Wynn from the Spinners were the most brilliant groups leaders of our time. The Temps and Tops could sing, but couldn't touch the Manhattans or the Spinners. This is art history!

I have been following the Manhattans for more than 30 years and I KNOW that the sweet voice behind most of the 70's ballads is that of Blue. He also appears above in the video singing lead vocals. Obviously you don't know him (or the group) as you would believe, Sorry!

@awareman1 Yes I think you are right I had a love of 70s music and recorded top of the pops repeats on uk Gold.

Youtube was years away I recorded them for me on a old VHS video not the best quality but that was all there was

. Some people comment and say you have cut of the start or where is the end but if you have ever recorded on a vhs they would take ages to start up and miss the start and as for the end top of the pops had a habit of cutting of the end .

So I think you are right.

We blacks in Cairns, North Queensland in Australia popularised this song back in the late seventies at the old Tudor Room. We took over the dance floor and bus-stopped all night long. it was a much bigger hit in the UK than the US. I have never seen it on tv since uk goold used to show old top of the pops when sky tv ist came out but they sent me a nice email for giving them the best copy I had a very old VHS tape.
