I've been listening to this song ever since I was little and it's always been the same to me, even now when I have completely stopped believing or practicing religion. AFI are such a great band.
I think this song is meant to mean something different to everyone. Saying there is one meaning is ridiculous, and this song is beautiful and amazing. I do not think this song is religious, however. Because Davey Havok himself said he believed in God, but not The Bible, so him writing a song about a story in The Bible is very unbelievable to me.

This stuff is what should be in an AFI song comments section; arguing over the meaning of a song and it's implimentations.
What should not be in the comments: Arguing over 'new' vs 'old' AFI, hating music (of any kind or artist), or 'like this comment' spam.
Please, talk about religion and its opposing view points. Just respect every indivdual's opinion.

you guys argue over the fact of being a christian and listening to music or cussing. Just listen to the awesome song, if you dont like it. go listen to something else. no need to hate on it. I'm christian and that doesnt mean i cant listen to the music i want. when it comes to any religon you need to research and find out what it means to you. I believe in God and am christian. but i'm no better then the person who doesnt believe in God. whos to say whats right. Believe what you want, your life!

Even though AFI, and Davey especially, dislike religion, I doubt that a gifted quartet such as this would reduce people's identity to their religious belief. I mean for example, Davey's a straightedge, but does he hate Hunter and Adam for not being straightedge? No he does not.
Anyway, I love how you described the trilogy of songs, I learned a lot from it.

I think this song is meant to mean something different to everyone. Saying there is one meaning is ridiculous, and this song is beautiful and amazing. I do not think this song is religious, however. Because Davey Havok himself said he believed in God, but not The Bible, so him writing a song about a story in The Bible is very unbelievable to me.
