bought this cd after 8th grade, summer 2000. changed my life forever. obviously new music has come into my life, im actually a big hiphop head now, but whenever i listen to this cd and this song i feel it more than ever. TGUK for life.
NOOO the song was too awesome I didn't pay attention and accidently clicked "dislike"... D:
The Get Up Kids is alright, they sound a bit like Fall Out Boy's early days debut mini-LP "Fall Out Boy's Evening Out with Your Girlfriend," well bassist Pete Wentz drew inspiration from The Get Up Kids which is why I know of them.
@Patspwnage dont you ever compare the get up kids to such a shitty band! FUCK A BUNCH OF FALL OUT BOY! TGUK ALL THE WAY!!! if anything fall out bot got there style from these guys. Something to Write Home about is the best album i've EVER purchased.
@DannyCrabb Then you obviously don't like Fall Out Boy but just because they sold quite a bit and gained a large following doesn't mean they're not good. They write all their own songs and play all their instruments. Their lyrics are insanely complex and are about meaningful topics including societal shortcomings and moral decay over the years.
@beficasita666 sorry if this is ignorant, but is "im a loner dottie, a rebel" originally come from pee wee or is it derived from james dean or something? ive been trying to research it for awhile now but have had no luck. you help would be greatly appreciated! thanks
Fuck that. The get up kids never get old. This song is still as awesome as the day i heard it. This whole cd is. I have grown up and moved on to other bands but I truly loved this album and this band..that never goes away.
@AbrahamSamable yeah you move on but the memories never leave. I've have just refound the get up kids. I forgot about them for a second there. but I frikkin love them.
@AbrahamSamable With you 100%, I started listening to this band when I was 13, lately I'm an instrumental rock/jazz-head, but I'm 25 now and this album is still as good as ever.
@Necrophrenic It's just well-written pop music with lots of heart. That's why I love it. I'll always be into it, no matter how much bluegrass or jazz I listen to now a days.
@AbrahamSamable I agree. This was the first CD I heard from them just over ten years ago, and I fell in love. I purchased the 10th-anniversary vinyl and have the sleeve framed on my wall.
Peewee: There's a lot of things about me that you don't know anything about Dottie, Things you wouldn't understand, Things you couldn't understand, Things you shouldn't understand. Dottie: I don't understand. Peewee: You don't wanna get mixed up with a guy like me, I'm a loner Dottie, a rebel, So long Dot.

@Patspwnage Pete Wentz wishes he could draw inspiration from TGUK.....if he believes he has then it isn't evident in any of their horrible pop music.

I love this song. This band is a long time favorite of mine. It's also kind of funny that the singer sounds a bit like Peewee.
