Estimated friend, if you want to listen again this song and an endless number of successes of the love I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - looks for his direction URL in Google ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet, is great, is very good ...!!!
Would love to hear more about the Great Crash. Still listen to him. I remember the local disk jockeys couldn't get enough of him, and neither could his fans. True entertainer, and so very handsome.
@Donkey9900 Since you noticed Tommy, I was wondering if you could tell who was playing steel? They sure didn't care about filming the band. I was about to think it was a studio recording, until finally seeing the fiddle players & bass player.
@CenaTv2 For the most part I agree, however some (not all) of the country music artists had a different idea and change was in the air (in the early 70's) & by the late 70's country had a new flavor, one I couldn't swallow. To me there is no greater country music than that of the 60's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At a time when most of the big male country stars (Porter Wagoner, Conway Twitty, etc) were ugly, Crash Craddock brought some welcome relief to the eyes.
CandyKane: U are kidding right? Conway was a chick magnet and so was Porter. I remember those days even though I was a youngster. I remember hearing Mama talk and other ladies in the family when we used to get together on the weekends and listen to country music and laugh. I am not judge of men but they used to get the ladies easily.
@CandyKane1 Right, not much for those two in the looks dept., but Conway was known to bring women to tears and faint; Porter was said to carry...ummm...just cant say it here. All, inluding Crash had extreme natural charisma. It wasn't made up like it is now days. The dj's loved Crash even more.
@graylyns Had the pleasure of playing Crash's records and interviewing him a couple of times. He was a true gentleman and his upbeat songs helped balance the drinking and cheating songs that prevailed on country radio those days.
I am a huge Billy Crash fan! The first time I saw him live was in 1981 @ the Hodag Country Music Festival in Rhinelander, WI.
My Mama and all my Aunts had the hots for Billy as did most women of that generation so, I grew upp listening to him. When I finally got to see him live I was star-struck. The Hodag is still going strong and Billy still makes appearances there. I hope to see him again some day.
you have to remember this is a cover version geared to a country music audience. Tony Orlando was to a pop/rock audience. Two different genres of music.
@stashnut73 Recording a pop song for a country audience was a standard practice for many a country star from the 1960s to the 1980s. Billy Crash Craddock does justice to the Tony Orlando and Dawn song.
I'll never understand why Billy was not bigger than he was. He had EVERYTHING Elvis did except the wreckless, self-destructive lifestyle. I've always thought of him as being kind of the "Country Elvis." He was one of the best.
I met Billy when I was 4 years old. Although I was rather young, I remember meeting him quite clearly. He gave me a kiss on the cheek, and after that moment, he became my first crush! Ha ha!
I'm now 21 and still listen to his music on occasion, and think back on that night I met him at the age of 4. : )
Great posting! I remember hearing Crash Craddock singing this on the radio when I was a kid...great memories. Love those big chop sideburns!...man, those were the days!
