i just bought one those, but with a mahogany body. I couldn't believe the sound I was getting out that thing through my lousy amp, but sadly, I've already made plans to go with all texas specials.
Awesome, but never ended up putting in Texas Specials since it has an HH route... I went with the Seymour Duncan Hot Rodded Set. The original p90s was pretty hot =)
Ahhh.... Your all wrong. Those are P89's. Produced only in Spain because the major mode of the earth's magnetic lines goes right through Barcelona and only the P89's can keep the guitar from making noise and ultimately bursting into flame thereby sending the guitar player straight to hell. Pay attention, it's important!
Now i don't know about the What he is saying but, the earth does have magnetic lines, The are formed from the magma that comes through the sea floor from The Shifting Tectonic Plates. Science my friend
@AirHendrix91 I agree but there is something about the P90 pickups that brings out the sound of the wood better for me. If I keep it in the middle position there is no buzz, but I have a guitar with humbuckers also, gotta have some variety.
@qlino1313 Those are actually "P90" pickups. Basically they sound about the same as strat pickups, just a little more power. 3 of these in a row and it sounds EXACTLY like a strat. Two sounds great as well, love this guitar, I have 3 sx guitars.
@qlino1313 They are single coil P-90 type pickups. They aren't humbucking at all. Incidentally, a regular Strat configuration is humbucking in the neck + middle and middle + bridge pickup-selector settings. FYI. I'm not saying this to be a dick. Someone told me that stuff a 100 years ago, and now I'm telling you ...and you've got to listen it and member, 'cause what you hears today you gotta tell the birthed tomorrow.
It's usable for minor stuff... I keep mine blocked (non-floating) and rarely touch it. I'd upgrade the tuners/nut if I was a heavy tremolo user. The tuning stability otherwise is very good.
I need to know two things before I buy a guitar, and this one has caught my eye: can it play loud (from metal to shoegaze), and does it clean up well? I've heard SX p90s are good for blues, but I'm not sure how well they'd be for louder music.
It sucks that they aren't offering maple necks anymore; for bolt-ons, I think they're the best.
Well, first off the cleans are gorgeous... as for 'loud'... it'll do loud. However, the p-90s are still single coils, a little punchier, but still singles so they get noisy with tons of gain... as for playing metal with it... I would imagine that depends more on your rig. The distorted tones aren't the super compressed high gain distortion that you get with high gain pickups.
on the website (rondo music) the closest is the "SX SST Ash P90 RN NA"... I don't see one with the maple neck anymore. I think it was $150 shipped with a gig bag.
Hi inoticed you have the strat with the laminate strip edge on the neck how does that feel i am considering the tele copy that is dull i know they use the same necks for the strats and teles do you find it a comfortable neck to play any info would be appreciated
The neck is comfortable, and the fret ends were finished as well as my Fender and Ibanez guitars. The frets were a little... tarnished upon delivery, but a little polish and they were great. Comfy neck, great guitar, especially for the price point.
I've been watching other P90 clips and this guitar seems to have a bright jangle to it that others don't (especially in those last three chords). It seems brighter than say a les paul copy with P90s. Do you notice that playing it vs other guitars? Maybe it's the wood/trem springs/etc or maybe the way your amp is set up.
I love the idea of a strat body with 2 P90s, what model is that? And where did you get it? I keep seeing SX guitars on YouTube but I've never seen one in a store.
what an ugly ass guitar. terrible color. looks like its been coughed up by a dying smoker.

@tutoj781 P-90's.
I hate P-90's. Humbuckers kick so much more ass in every way.

Hey nice video. I was wondering how the vibrato/tremolos are on these sx guitars? Are they at all usable? And how in tune does it stay? Thanks.
