  • I have just had the opportunity to listen to Paul Murphy and Larry Willis' latest release EXCURSIONS . This is temendous and marks a long awaited transition in JAZZ. It was recorded April 2007 at Lion and Fox ; engineered by Jim Fox and the sound is CRYSTAL CLEAR *****. This MUSIC is MAGICAL.

  • I have just finished 'Break Away' with Jere Carroll & Joel Futterman and 'Excursions' with Larry Willis, both of these are available now from NorthCountry.

  • I saw Murphy's band "Phoenix" play at the Washington, DC World Jazz Festival July 3, 1994; he had Hamiet Bluiett, Karen Borca, Kidd Jordan, William Parker, Kash Killion & Yuko Fujiyama.

It was 100 degrees outside and they were SMOKIN!!
