General Foods was obsessed with "freeze-dried" foods during the latter half of the '60s. They tried adding freeze-dried fruit [peaches, blueberries and strawberries] to corn flakes in 1966 {Post's "Fruit in the Box" cereals}, with disastrous results. Then, they hit on the idea of freeze-dried coffee...and finally hit the jackpot with "Maxim", their most successful brand, by the early '70s.
When I was in dietary, we used to serve Sanka to the patients. If they asked for it, we would put Sanka packets right on their trays.
