How Fix Computer Usb Ports That Stop Working(Worked 4 Me).

OK, my computer won't even allow me to use Diagnostic Startup; when I select it and click "apply", the cursor automatically moves to Selective Startup.

here is a question for you... my usb ports occasionally stop working. If I restart my computer they will come back up and work just fine. my question is... do you know of a way to "reactivate" them to get them working again WITHOUT restarting the computer?

@mikziv the only way i can think of is to uninstall the usb drivers and then scan for hardware changes. can't say for sure that that will work but it's definitely worth a try.

(I never said it would fix every usb problem) any fix you try on youtube is at your own risk..this was done on a desktop.never said it would work on a laptop. try taking some responsibility for your own actions besides this is easily reversible so your laptop was junk way before you tried this fix.

@jealousmuch18 I'm sorry to hear that it didn't work for you but I did say that I can't guarantee that it will work for everybody..I'm no expert just wanted to share what worked for me.

@percaine alright, i'm sorry i'm flipped out. I'm just upset, and i know it's not your fault. But the problem is, is that once i changed it to the diagnostic setting, the usb ports were still not recognized. So i tried to change it back to normal, and for some reason it stayed in the diagnostic setting. Do u have any idea how i can fix this or what the problem may be?

@percaine since the usb ports arent working there's no possible way to plug my ipod (which is what i have for a video camera) into the computer. so i guess not

@bapestajnv you should make a video of what you mean because my computer has no password and it just starts exactly the same as it normally does....no prompt for a password. I just click on my normal account.

@MrMadSonne sorry about that my screen capture program wasn't working very well the day I recorded this video....when you click run type MSCONFIG it doesn't have to be typed in all caps I just did that to make it stand out in the comment. hope this helps

i did everything you said.. and it didnt work and when i went to put my laptop back in normal startup it was fine and when it restarted it said there way no bootable partition? and its stoke on tht screen

@xSiKEntertainment sorry to here that it didn't work for you but like I said in a comment below.....I've never had a chance to try this on a laptop so I don't know for sure that It will work and I'm not an expert I just fix my own computers as a hobby..you might have to reinstall your operating system..sorry I can't be more helpful

@AMARILLO08 I've never had this problem with a laptop before so I haven't had a chance to test it on one but I would think it would work just as well on a laptop as a desktop..give it a try it can't hurt.:)
