Well first of all, it wasn't a nerf, just a change. Caster characters couldn't utilize the rocket boots without wasting lots of mana potions, this allows them to be useful without leaving casters defenseless afterwards. While this trick is interesting it seems to be pointless, as just running along the ground is faster.

You'd be quicker running with the hermes boots if you're gonna go across a flat surface. And, it's not really unlimited because you are severely limited by having things to grapple on your screen. This does not solve the problem at all, but I suppose I've gotten used to not using rocketboots now. But what were they thinking, really? 1 second? Man that is a really harsh nerf.

I was wondering when there'd be a video explaining how to do this! I remember that I figured this out originally as a quick boost for hermes boots, and used it expressly for that, but obviously I don't have any capturing software, so I haven't been able to share it so easily with the universe. So nice video, but while it's useful with rocket boots, the real use comes out when utilizing just a hookshot and hermes boots, since it instantly gets you running at full speed.

That is exactly the reason rocket boots should of been nerfed. Flying up to a floating island without trying? You really think it should be like that instead of you searching for one. Yeah, using the grappling hook or ivy whip resets the rocket boot time limit, even if hooked onto below.

Actually to use this really effectively you need to use a featherfall potion, then you can travel a great distance over bumpy terrain without landing once.

This seems incredibly pointless. Although you can do a similar method (with the vine cancelling) to instantly reach max speed on Hermes Boots, so I guess with both Hermes and Rocket this would be much more useful.

they aren't nerved ... in my oppinion the have been improved ... e.g. in a boss battle u need to be swift which u aren't before 1.0.5 with them boots. also the upwards boost is greater than before ...

PS. sort of the same thing can be achieved with the gravity potion :)
