  • Student: Hey! I'm the first one here! Ya proud of me, teach?

    Teacher: Of course!

    Student: What's calcoolis?

    Teacher: *suddenly less proud*

  • cal-kool-aid?

  • How do I reach these keeeeyyssssss!!!!!!

  • Hahaha that shits funny....haha...............

  • hahah my teacher showed us this movie today (:

  • @MizzCutieLuv My teacher did too. :O

  • HOW DO I REACH THEESE KEEEEDS

  • LOL I love this movie. My algebra teacher showed it to us when I was in the 9th grade.

  • How do I reach these kids?!

  • My class laugh at this

  • Great movie - teachers are my heroes!

  • It's a god-damned muthafucking shame that movie doesn't get the respect it deserves!

I mean you got all these spoiled-brat richy bitch kids in American Pie all romantacized and shit. Not everyone lives in "middle"-class suburbia! Apart of American is suffering and overcoming. I just wish they would show more stuff like this, hell not even minorities! I know some white people that would agree with me!

  • What's calcúlus? LMAO

  • haha we watched this in school. Best line. :D

  • "How do I reach these keeeeds??"

  • Wuz cal-coo-lus?

  • Lou Diamond Phillips was all that kept me from falling asleep when we had to watch this in 7th grade math class... xD No offense to those who liked the movie, all I'm saying is I'm shallow and will watch a movie I don't like because LDP is hot.

  • "A negative times a negative equals a positive, repeat..." i actually learned from this movie lol

  • Kenny is hilarious.

  • Thumbs up if how i met your mother sends you here

  • Lol I love this part

  • Love that awesome

  • Every school in America should have the students watch this movie. This was better than Stand By Me IMO and I'm from NJ. Edward James Olmos and Lou Diamond Phillips made the movie shine.

  • We watched this movie after taking the AP test...what a great movie :) I think it was this movie that's pretty much inspired me to want to keep doing math after I graduate.

  • That kid who said "What's calculus" is Lou Diamond Phillips from La Bamba.

  • I love this movie :D what's cooler is that my friend's dad wrote it.

  • @animation508 Dude this is based in a true story, your friend's dad couldnt hhve written it.

  • @zapatosinpie54 this has to be the most stupid comment on the internet.

  • XD Oh man... I knew as soon as I saw Lou Diamond Phillips as one of the cast members that this would be a good movie. I love that scene so much.

  • What's cal-COOLUS lol, angels the best.

  • @karatekidbandicoot hahahahahahhahhaa i know rite!!!!!!!! hahahahahahahahahahhahahaahahahahahahah !!!!!!!!!!

  • brilliant

  • i struggle at basic math

  • @thejanitorssuccess thanks for sharing. (: all of youtube really needed to know that. how about i hire a private tutor for you? i'm sure everyone that reads your comment really cares about your struggles in school.

*claps loudly* wake up hunnie. no one cares.

  • @LaTuaCantanteAmanda i know that no one cares.lol

  • @LaTuaCantanteAmanda Hey man, that's a little harsh. Lots of people don't have access to or are placed in a situation that doesn't breed motivation for academic success. I would like to think that I care because it would be better for American society if he did study advanced concepts. The more informed the people are, the better right? Besides, I would also like to think taxpayer dollars are paying off. :P

  • Calculus is not really all that hard it's just a lot of rules and law's to remember when working out the functions.

  • @Theshark15z your right calculus is not hard itself just the algebra in in it

  • @Fullmetal1222 Yeah Algebra was hard but when I started taking The Trig and pre-cal and cal 1 I found out how less stressful it was.

  • @Theshark15z well I took algebra in 7th grade and I just finished my junior year of high school and my trig teacher was like disappointed in my algebra skills so I can imagine how it is going to be like in ap cal haha

  • @Fullmetal1222 The only diffence in Ap Cal is that they gave twice the amount of work of a regular course.

  • i love this movie till i die. infact my friends and i picked out which character we were lol so funny yet fun.

  • Orale Kimo you're gonna strip my gears

  • 'What's "calkooluss"?'

    LMAO.

  • i have a newfound respect for this movie when i found out admiral adama plays jaime escalante

  • Today i watched this movie in math class and I am the only 1 who laughed at this line.

  • I wonder what happened to all these kids. The real life kids. What kind of jobs did they get. If they went to college.

  • Per haps this wont mean a lot to all of you, but i read a book about Pancho Villa, he was a men who could barely read and wright, and at the first month of his administration as governor of Chihuhua he founded 50 schools, he belived in that, he didnt go to school, he felt pain by seing poor kins in the street intead of a school, he prefer to page the salary of a Teacher then a General, when he started Canutillo(Hacienda) he seat next to the kids to take class, another face of him.

  • lol he is my fav of te students

  • @brown2912 & Cute :)

  • we are doing a play in the school

  • I like the Southpark verison better

  • what's cal-CULOS?

  • When you watch the movie when the kids are taking the final test the smart girl doesn't complete her test and says she has an appointment and needs to leave. Some people I talked to didn't see that when the guy next to her wanted to copy her paper it would of messed it up for the rest of the class and they all would of failed so she sacrificed her 5 points for the test and the guy that wanted to copy her still passed with a 3.

  • Your mom's worthless.

  • @truthwillbetoldjig your worthless

  • @DUTCHMASTER67 You're worthless.

  • @truthwillbetoldjig your generation is worthless

  • i am entering a university this fall. i want to major in economics but i am scared because my math skills are low. i think i will go for poli sci instead. i wich jaime escalante was here! rip!

  • @dethica I am a 41 year old man who is in University of Manitoba finishing my second year going for a criminology degree to re-apply with the City of Winnipeg...and I am scared, too. "I know it won't be long/Comin' on real strong/I was born to win/Never given' in!" A song called "Give 'Em Hell" by a Canadian heavy metal band called Helix gives me inspiration. If you give up you will be giving up on your self. Good luck in university!!

  • @kirk93814

  • i remeber when cartmen from southpark was JAime Escalante

  • This movie is Rocky for math teachers. I don't think there is another movie like it. Maybe Dead Poet's Society, but not even in the same ballpark.

  • Lol, Kal-cool-is, funiest line in the movie, Lol. The 9 people who don't like this obviously don't like comedy

  • lol wahts Kal-kool-is?

  • Hey, Kimo! Aren't u proud of me? i'm the first dude here!.... What's Calcoolus?

  • How do I reach these kids....?

  • @HaxxorsProduction "How do I reach these kids". Don't understand why Cartman had to repeat that 50,000 times in that unfunny episode, but then that line was never spoken in the movie they were spoofing.

  • @HaxxorsProduction no man... how do i reach this teacher

  • I love the south park version of this movie lol

  • The real teacher died not long ago

    xD

  • SO SAY WE ALL

  • Does anyone else have sort of a difficult time understanding some of the characters in the movie? Seems like quite a few of the students mumble.

  • @ImUrDoppelganger Angel is not asian or mexican in fact his real name is Lou Diamond Philips. Hes Native American in fact hes a known actor.

  • I'm watching this in my Calculus class, now that AP testing is over and we're done studying!

  • I just watched this in math class today I'm in seventh grade

  • This movie is actually totally inaccurate. The director dramatized the story heavily. Don't infer anything about the real world of education based on this movie.

  • I wish I had this guy as a teacher when I took AP Calc.

  • We watched this today in math class and at first I was like Wow....boring ass movie that I can't even understand with only a bunch of mexicans and no black people( I'm black)....Then I ACTUALLY watched it since my friend wasnt there to distract me, and it was a GREAT movie even though I couldnt understand alot of what was being said since the t.v was so quiet, I got the ponit of it, Never give it people will try to hold you back but you have to keep it strong, He was a great teacher :3

  • Hey, that 2nd guy to the end is wearing a T-shirt that says "Plimsouls", which was a great band that played on the soundtrack for Valley Girl. The song A Million Miles Away is probably the greatest rock song of all time.

  • R.I.P Jaime Escalante

    i <3 this movie

  • RIP Jaime Escalante

  • RIP ESCALANTE

  • I had a chemistry teacher who was like this guy, but most of my teachers were more like Wackford Squeers from the Charles Dickens novel.

Even if you stink at Math, you can still learn enough to calculate your wages. You can also do well at other subjects.

The real Escelante succceeded because the kids in his school wanted it, not because he was "cool".

  • I was terrible in math in high school. My math teacher was honest yet caring and told me that I could be good in math but would have to work really hard. She showed us this movie and I said, "If they can do it, I can to." I did! I took calculus in high school and became a pharmacist!

  • He was my teacher in my high school years back in the early 80's. An AWESOME human being that impacted my life in so many ways with his dedication and great sense of humor. LOVE YOU FOREVER, TEACHER ESCALANTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Holy crap, he's just like my calc teacher, having us come in on weekends and vacations and not taking any lip about it.

  • My dad was his student
