258 wins -57 loses...incredible....still has more cups (tied with plante) than any other goalie in only 8 years.
everyone says it's because of the team in front of him. oh yea? How come when he took a year off after they one the cup...they were eliminated in the first round. How come when he retired with lafleur-shutt-robinson-savard-lapointe in their prime...the team lost in the quarter finals after winning 4 cups in a row.
@frankiefigs I agree Ken Dryden was one of the best goaltenders the game has ever seen however your 2nd analogy is rather pointless. Lafleur, Dryden, Shutt, Savard and Lapointe were the Montreal Canadians back then. If you were to have lost just one of those players the team would have suffered but they lost all 5 at once. That's like the Titanic hitting the ice berg, there was just no way to recover.
@Xanajamun I'm sorry but they never lost all 5 at once....after the 4 cups they lost dryden and lemaire who was past his prime....nobody else. Lafleur, robinson, shutt, etc. were in their 20's....lapointe and savard were in their early 30's. They all played together for at least 4 years after dryden retired and they never advanced past the quarter finals.
