This is actually a big surprise. This is excellent. I had gotten tired of this song over the years and countless listens by many artists -- but Ann Sally has revived my listening to this song with interest.
I have spent this Christmas night, joyously (and tearfully) indulging in every youtube cover of Joannie's classic "Both Sides Now.".Ann Sally's beautiful subtle jazz rendition is an awesome contribution. Yet even this most artful piano accompaniment is ultimately a distractation. I await the artist with the talent (and courage) to mount the clouds a cappella! Nellie Mckay, are you listening?
@isomu . . interesting that you would want such simplicity. The melody is nursery-rhyme simple and would barely hold up on its own. Good luck finding a vocalist who thinks it worthy of A-Capella treatment, although there exist a precious few could sing the phone book and perk up my ears.
