@nypoet22 This one fell pretty low on my list. There are a lot of DFH beers that I like more - Indian Brown Ale. I want to try the Pearl Jam beer they are releasing.
i would like to do a show at dogfish head pub so many hotties out in rehoboth beach it's like crazy, anyways great beer i tasted it before and i use to work at the pub as well back in the day great review....
Okay I got a problem. This beer seems to be virtually universally loved by everyone who tries it which is amazing for something that unusual. I got a bottle recently and it tasted like crap. Shared it with about 6 others and we all got the same impression. Did I get a stale bottle or what? It was sickeningly sweet and had a awful green flavor like overcooked spinach, and the spiciness I would expect from chai was really subdued. Anyone else get the same experience?
@capitalistraven I would never buy this beer again. I found it to be a off-putting. I didn't even really want to finish the glass I had. It's one of the few beers on the BBA that I just didn't like at all - that and Burger Beer.
@afivedollarmilkshake I sincerely wish I could, Dogfish Head had to drop Indiana distribution this year so I would have to go out of state to get it. Really, after looking at other reviews and opinions I think it's just a big time matter of taste, you either love it or hate it. It is possible I got a stale bottle, but some the flavors weren't just subdued, they were really off-putting. The Juniper rubs me the wrong way, I think, since I'm a bit of a hop head.
It looks like that Lammin Sahti is/has been in US markets. "Finnish sahti is to enter the U.S. microbrewery products market. Lammin Sahti has signed an agreement with B. United International on the delivery of sahti and juniper beer to wholesalers in the United States." This is pretty old news from 2004, so the scene might been changed.
Well.. I got to say that this Sahtea beer actually isn't even close of real Finnish Sahti. In real sahti, there's no carbonation, no tea spices (ok, It's a cross-over, but still). I'd loved to see these guys testing the real finnish sahti because it 's so unique, so sweet, powerfull, lots of esters and so on.
Has anyone tried all of the rare and ancient DFH? I've had all but one, the Chitau something or other. The Sah Tea is by far my favorite, the Theobrama is interesting to me but not something I need a lot of. The Midas Touch is good but a bit on the sweet side for me.
I was at a DFH rare beers tasting on Friday night and this was one of the beers there. Unfortunately, by the time I got around to trying it I was pretty drunk so I can't quite remember what it tasted like. Basically, I didn't hate it.
Nice to see you utilizing the full widescreen and not having that stupid picture of the bottle taking up the right side of the screen.
You guys still need to learn how to pour though, LOL
@ChadzBeerReviews 1) Our #1 pourer, Joby, was out that evening. That was the first taping he ever missed. Even when he hasn't been on the show he was at least behind the camera.
2) We got two new cameras. We are now shooting all in HD. Before we were using two SD cameras, so instead of having black on the sides of the screen I decided it would be better to see the beer label.
3) I did not like this beer. I can see how some people would like it. It's quality, but I would never get again.
Cool thanks for trying this different beer. I have had some of DFH's historical recreations and generally enjoyed them. But I have not tried this one. Sounds like it is worth trying. Funny that Dave can drink so much of it. :) cheers.
I just did a Sahti tasting flight and Sah'Tea is by far the best of the DFH, Nogne'O and new belgium versions. I found this beer very drinkable and refreshing and also a great representation of the style.
@khunopie This was Knott my favorite either. It was probably in the bottom five beers that we've reviewed. It did Knott hit me right. That being said - the rest of the guys loved it. I was definitely in the minority with this one.
beer is very nice! Not a session beer but very nice for a special occasion.

@kgetz3 I think this has a unique, strong flavor that is beloved by some and hated by others. Very interesting beer though.
