This is a very unusual lion to my eyes. I have never seen a phoenix on the head and black and white lions are not seen here in San Francisco or New York City where I grew up 50 years ago. Also, new lions are made with rabbit fur instead of fringe, and I think the fringe moves more gracefully. Thank you for sharing this. May I ask, what is the ribbon tying for?

actually not rare at all..you can custom order Fat San lion with phoenix, or Dragon, or Tiger, or fist horn or standard point..theres also another type which is a horn in a complete circle that is the horn joins to the head like a ring, 1 school because it is tong long also gets its horns as a preying mantis..if you want, can also get modern idea of leopard type design u can order from me, - just email me

This is a beautiful lion, it's extremely rare to find a black lion with the phoenix on top. The last time I saw one had to be 17-18 years ago. Since I am adding my two-cents I will note that I am from NYC and that I am in YL. I am not sure that the tail looks right with the head. Although long, the tail looks like it belongs to a Northern Lion. This is a very traditional looking lion HEAD, I would have liked to have seen it with a traditional looking TAIL.

black lions to some school is the Zheng fei lion which is taken from the 3 kingdoms tribute.Otherwise some schools want black lions to represent youth as it still has black hair-older lions with traditional ideal use white hair-hence the meaning old man with grey hair
