@chickensaurusrex711 - no what I was meaning is how the canopy flying can manage to match the forward and downward speed of a wingsuit? I just would think (at face value) a canopy would have a way slower forward & decent rate no? Aren't the wingsuiter travelling with a downward speed of around 50mile/hour and forward at about 150 miles/hour?

@greghauptmann At 2:15 you can see during a short time the setting of the front risers, there is a strap trimming system ("accelerators"?) like on many paragliders. It is set back to normal as reaching close to the ground and landing. It reamins smalls canopies, like those used for speed flying and ski speed fly riding,

@soliv27 ok thanks - so the metallic pieces are ok during deployment? are do you have to adjust them (i.e. accelerators) before landing? I'm trying to work out what would be more fun, being the canopy pilot or the wingsuiter? :)

@greghauptmann @greghauptmann I have no much knowledge about the specificity of skydiving, about the deployement, the licenses..

But it seems to me while you could learn to fly with a small parawing from the mountains, safely, it would be a lot more difficult if not impossible to learn "wingsuiting" from cliffs without dive exp. Some people have begun paragliding with that kind of small canopies. Surely wingsuit from mountains brings a bit more sensations.

@greghauptmann these are wingsuits, you glide through the air wearing them. they are mostly used for base jumping. it takes the natural idea of the flying squirrel and uses it on a human.

you are thinking of hang gliding. when you are close to landing there is a parachute attached to the back.
