  • that is amazing I wish I learned baritone/Euphonium when i was his age

  • Why all the debate over whether it's a baritone or a euphonium? It's a video about a young kid playing a horn very well. Get over yourselves.

  • Friggin internet. I swear. If you people ever saw a Baritone Horn, you wouldn't even have to ask the difference because a Baritone and a Euphonium are so different in general bore profile, it's impossible to not know the difference when they're next to each other. And no, it doesn't matter what the manufacturer calls it because they're dumb too. Just look at some of the "Flugelhorns" that have cropped up over the years.

  • Nice playing.

He is certainly playing an American-style baritone horn. The only company still making them is King, and they still call it a baritone horn. This instrument has a large bell and a large bore, but in America, if the valves are in the front, it is a baritone horn. King makes a similar size horn with top valves, and they call that one a Euphonium. The British definition would call this a euphonium, but this is not a British instrument.

  • oh and encourage him to keep playing :]

  • hell this kid did better than the kids in my middle school band not as good as me though :D but an excellent start

  • es un baritono..

  • i play the baritone too :D

  • @Jrv2005 ya ur right. Baritone is three valve and euphonium is four valve. Couldn't tell which one the kid was playing but chances are it's a baritone cuz it better for beginners and even high school bands.(yes I would know) ;)

  • WTF eliteninjas he was awesome even though he had to open his teeth a little more

  • Fuck u eliteninja he was good

  • u suck

  • @TheEliteNiinjas

and what do you play?the baritone is a very hard instrument to play.i speak from experience.

  • @TheEliteNiinjas that is pure music right there my friend... it cannot get anybetter than that

  • Sounds like he needs to open his teeth a bit.. but other than that very good!

  • i play baritone too!

    xD well done kid!

  • im playing baritone now too

  • @gmefrky101 meee toooooooooo

  • thats a euphonium, not a baritone just f.y.i haha. He's kinda good for his age. :)

  • Awesome!!!!!!!

  • Ok!!!

  • the difference between a baritone and euphonium is that with a euphonium the main tuning slide can be switched the opposite way it is supposed to and still fit.... the baritone can not... so you wouldnt be able to tell if it was a baritone or euphonium by looking at it.

  • Euphonium is the most beautiful sound in the band.. keep it up!

  • u got skill but i still think i can play as good as u

  • Omg, for being that yuong he is REALLY good!!

  • i play it the kid is really good!!!! :}

  • WTF?

    1:40

    RANDOM

    lol

  • very good!

  • IF U DO UR WORST U LEARN

  • Your really good!!! keep it up and really get far with it to get a degree in music,i know someone who did and got a doctorites degree in music

  • Wow kid! Keep it up. The Baritone is a great instrument and don't let anyone tell you different!

  • i agree its awesome play it in band @ scool

  • crazy good u got some skill

  • holy crap... hey i play at a world ranked high school and alls i can say is this kid is amazing

  • that is such a hard song to play, i play baritone too, it can be complicated.

  • If you think this is hard then you must be retarded

  • u must suk, i play it too =]

  • rofl i remember playing that song in elementary isnt that the battle of jericho? but anyways keep it up buddy.... =] this is my 8th year playing the baritone rofl and i got a marching band comp. tomorrow so wish me luck... GO POTOSI TROJANS WOOT!!!!!!!!!

  • i play it too im the only person at my middle school playing it and that kid rocks aloud

  • Just a comment to euphobari, most kids are like that if they're new to playing especially at his age. I've heard a lot of kid his age play and it sounds like that. I remember sounding like that at his age I first started. He will get better!

  • Sorry about the harsh comment. I was in bit of an angry mood at the time. Anyways, keep on playing, kid.

  • cool! I play guitar, bass guitar and baritone =). Keep up the good music kid !

  • Hey, that's Jericho. I wish I was that good at 11. Rock on little man and never stop playing!!!

  • how old is this little dude?

  • He was 11 at the time of the video. He's now 12 and in Jr. High continuing with the baritone (California All-state honor band) and also now playing trombone in the school jazz band.

  • @vansocal did he by any chance go to rancho starbuck

  • very good

  • good job

  • I play the baritone

  • same here

  • me i play it too!

    BARITONES ROCK!

  • i play baritone too although that looks kind of easy i could play it

  • Jrv2005 this is a king 2266 u.s.a. this is a BARITON

  • That's a euphonium not a baritone. GET YOUR INSTRUMENTS RIGHT.

  • What are your definitions of euphonium and baritone? I've been playing brass instruments for much longer than you've been alive and I can tell you that there is no clear definition for either horn in the United States. In other parts of the world where the brass band tradition is strong there is a clearer difference but in the U.S. both terms are used pretty much interchangeably. Of course, if you'd enlighten me with your source of information I'd be glad to consider it.

  • Of all the kids that play euphonium or American euphonium in school, a microscopic fraction of them actually play baritone horn. And of that huge percentage, a huge percent of them believe that they play baritone due to the ignorance of their band teachers! Sorry for trying to dispell a stupid stereotype. Your only encouraging this lie.

  • @vansocal Sorry, that's incorrect. The baritone is a cylindrical horn and the euphonium is conical. And Jrv2005, that IS a baritone.

  • @vansocal as respectfully as I can say this a man named Dave Werden wrote quite a decisive article on the subject you have to look up his website to find it but i found it quite a good read as are the rest of his articles

  • @vansocal You're wrong. That is Euphonium. A euphonium has a warmer, fuller sound in controst to a baritone. A main reason for that is the wideness of the bell. Baritones are meant for more of a bright sound. So yes, there is a difference. I'm only 16 and I know that... Why do you think drum corps march baritones AND Euphs? They have a much different sound. They're just different instruments in general.

  • @vansocal hello. im 16 and i decide to search the difference but in this video your son is playing a baritone. the euphonium has a different bore, and produces a better sound, and it also has 4 valves. well i assume he is playing a baritone since that module usually has only 3 valves. jrv2005 was being a jerk and didnt even know what he was talking about. he probably thought that a 'Baritone' is the marching one only.

  • I can't link to web pages on youtube, but type in "Euphonium vs Baritone" into Google and click the first link. It's an article written by David Werden, a professional euphonium player. CLEARLY, if you actually researched the topic, you'd grasp the concept. Just go to that David Werden article, and stop acting like a child. You clearly has no grasp of what you are talking about. You're just an ignorant little kid with no concept of instruments.

  • @Jrv2005 ROFL! I has no??? "you has no"

Wow I'm the one acting like a child. Oh my gosh get a life your living rude comments on these videos like you even no what your talking about. I'm definitely not a child.

    Talk about run-on sentences. ;)

  • @BerTinVan2012

Nice way to call attention to a simple typo and completely ignore the fact that you're entirely wrong in your assumption that this is a baritone. Stop avoiding the subject and grow up.

  • @Jrv2005 hah... ummm yah apparently i'm more grown-up you will ever be. you are seriously trying to argue with a teen about stupid baritones and euphoniums. get a life before you lose your life. better yet go kill yourself.

  • @BerTinVan2012

So is this what children do when they don't want to admit they're wrong?

  • @Jrv2005 wow bitch shut up. get a fucking life. stop critizing peoples videos and make ur own!

by the way I am right and you are wrong. i have no need what so ever to read that article.

  • @BerTinVan2012

Nice to see you respond like a child when things don't turn out your way. If you weren't blind, you'd read that article, OR the post in on your page, and you'd CLEARLY see that it's a euphonium, not a baritone. I doubt you even know what a Baritone sounds like, because if you live in the United States, you've probably never seen one. Clearly though, you're in too much denial to accept any view that isn't lodged in your head, so I pity your ignorance.

  • @Jrv2005 hahahahahahaahahahahahaha!!! k.

  • @BerTinVan2012

Great argument. Totally changed my point of view.

  • @Jrv2005 k.

  • @Jrv2005 i play baritone oops i mean euphonium or baritone or euphonium only difference is most of the time key word: most the bell of a euphonium is turned not vertical

  • @brickofman ok maby i was wrong but our college uses the terms interchangeably

  • @vansocal

By the way, if you're STILL in denial about your misconception, here is my source of evidence:

    w w w (dot) dwerden (dot) com/eu-articles-bareuph (dot) cfm

He's been playing Brass Instruments a lot longer than you have...

  • @vansocal Bell outward equals Baritone.

  • I play baritone/euphonium and have done some research and have found that the instrument that is being played in this video is not completely baritone or euphonium, it is an instrument that was developed for marching in England and has characteristics of both a baritone and a euphonium. A baritone is mostly cylindrical until the bell flare, and a euphonium is more conical and starts widening sooner than a baritone.

  • um no that is a baritone, the bell is facing forwards its a baritone

  • it may be a euphonium with a foreward facing bell. it has connical tubing.

  • @Jrv2005 How come every baritone video is your "euphonium" then?

  • @Jrv2005 thats a baritone idiot. euphoniums dont curve out at the bell like that

  • @BAconGR

Bro, their are no Baritones played in the United States. It's a British instrument. This kid is playing an American Euphonium, which is a brassier sounding Euphonium made for school band. It's a deformed Euphonium, but it's still a euphonium.

A baritone is a very small and skinny instrument that almost sounds like a trombone and has cylindrical instead of conical tubing.

  • @Jrv2005 wrongg yet again.

  • @BAconGR well he was wrong but euphoniums can curve, but they have 4 valves and a better sound. baritones sound like trombones.

  • @Jrv2005 wronggg!!! he is playing a baritone. euphonium has a clearer sound andd has 4 valves. get your facts straight before being a jerk in someones comments.

  • @Jrv2005 ITS THE FREAKIN OPPOSITE!

  • @Robloxian182

I'm a euphonium player, and I've played both. I know what I'm talking about, and if you typed in "Euphonium or Baritone" or something like that into google, you'd get the article written by David Wenhem, a world famous euphonium player, in which David describes the difference between a euphonium and a baritone. He goes into detail SPECIFICALLY on why the exact instrument played in this video is a euphonium.

Please, stop spewing unsupported crap at me. You're all wrong. Grow up.

  • @Jrv2005 i made that comment BEFORE i discovered the difference between them......now get the fuck off of youtube!!!!

  • @Robloxian182

So, admit you're wrong and move on. Stop being such a baby about it.

  • @Jrv2005 euphonium=baritone get YOUR instruments right

  • @Jrv2005 fukin asshole thats a baritone i would know i play it retard

  • @cbrocket451

Type in "Euphonium or Baritone" into google and read the article by david wenhem. He'll tell you why you're wrong. Then, go get some friends and learn how to communicate without being a little twat. I play the EUPHONIUM just like you play the EUPHONIUM. Your band teacher IS WRONG. He doesn't know what he's talking about. Just read the article, you'll know what I'm talking about.

  • Some Go Staight Up Like A Tuba At the Top Bot Some Kinda Bend Like That IsThere A Difference?

  • for his age..thats really good..im in 7th but i probably couldn't play that when i was in 6th grade....great job!!!^o^

  • Haha typo in the last comment. Puff*

  • When you play the baritone you can't really buff out your cheeks because it doesn't make the air go directly through the horn. And there really isn't any reason to because of how your lips have to be. =]

  • yea exactly ur not soppose to lol

  • I mean, most kids that play brass instruments usually puff their cheeks and make themselves look like a blowfish while blowing air into the horn...Ya know?

  • Holy cow o_o

I so wish I was that good when I was in 6th grade.

And he didn't puff his cheeks like most 11 year olds when they play, that's impressive...

  • how do 11 year olds put there cheeks i dont i play awsome gosh im so flippign awsome but not as good as him

  • dang that kids like 8 and he's got tons of skill you can tell that he's going to be awsome somtime later in life

  • man who is this kid dude stick with the baritone cause dude you have talent and at an age like that man there is no telling how good you will be when you hit high school.

  • this is 7-8th grade level easy. 9th grade no way.

  • wow.. i dont impress easily, and im impressed..

  • holy hell.. how old is he..??

  • Kenneth (my grandson) is 11 years old, in the 6th grade.

  • and there's nothing holy about hell!

  • @vansocal Agreed. Hell is not holy one bit!

  • You are really good your age. You have a future for you. I play euphonium and I am in 7th grade. What is the highest note you can reach? And how old are you? Man, I gotta send this to my band director. Very impresive for your age. You're going in my favorites! Congrats!

  • very nice for your age but work on opening your teeth a bit more and the higher notes will sound less airy

should have taken up trombone though lol much better TROMBONES OWN!!!!!!!!!

  • man you boss especially for your age you own some kids i know (high school) good job

  • that was amazing!

  • He's basically on many 9th graders levels

  • Nice i dont even think i couls play like that!

  • ddue not bad

  • Nice...great tone for your age!!!I see a virtoso on a few years, don't stop playing
