¡Qué extraño!, en mi primer viaje a Europa, en un barco español, al salir del puerto, tocaban este vals. Meses después compré el disco en Nueva York. España, la tierra de mis abuelo9s, tan querida por mí. Volví varias veces, y volvería de nuevo, de no ser por la enfermedad y los años. Belísima música. Saludos desde México.

En mi primer viaje por barco a España, al amanecer nos pusieron este alegre vals.

Años después en N Y, conseguí el disco. Tantos recuerdos me trajo de mi querida España,la patruia de mis abuelos, que en menos de 15 diás ya estaba de nuevo en Santander.Qué hermoso es ser joven y con salud. Lo más intrigante es que Chabrier no es spañol.

I've played this piece since childhood. Anyway... despite that Waldteufel called it a waltz to me reminds me clearly of a "Jota" the most common dance in most of Spain, specially Aragon and Navarra. The jota uses a 3/8 time which could sound like the 3/4 time of a waltz.

i like this, it's easy to play( I have bought a book in which there was this piece) and the atmosphere is full of spanish attributes. I like music which is easy to listen, and not boring and very warm and pleasing feelings.  Actually, this piece is even hot, not solely warm.

The Rapsodie Espagnole is a 1908 piece by Maurice Ravel.

The 1883 piece by Emmanuel Chabrier on which Waldteufel based this 1886 waltz is called España: A Rhapsody.
