@SnapdragonYellow Hi, that technique works wonder. Try singing with it. It provides support and relaxation when you sing through scales. There are 2 variations: 1) fingers on cheeks 2) w/o fingers on cheeks *as per this video*. I have not mastered it yet.... I'm wondering which is a better approach.

This is the lip oscilation, it is mostly done by beatboxers.

Lip rolls are done by making the lip oscilation outward and inward very fast after eachother.

And this sucks, it's incomplete.

This girl dun know what a lip roll is for. You don't blow more air when you're doing a lip roll. A lip roll is there to regulate airflow.

Hi - I like that you aim to do this with such relaxed lips and throat. I have found that you can do even more effective lip rolls by avoiding 'p' or 't' at the start - these create a small amount of tension at the lips. Starting purely with airflow removes any tension from lips, jaw and tongue, freeing the vibratory mechanism and opening the mouth resonance even more. It also requires us to breath from deep abdominal muscles - otherwise the lip vibration doesn't launch.

DO NOT push through your breaks like she tells you to. It will cause vocal strain and might even make your break bigger. One of the tricks behind the lip roll is that you automatically condition your body to supply the correct pressure needed to produce tone without tensing up and damaging your vocal cords. If you can't do a clean passage through your breaks, bend over at the waist while still allowing air to flow freely as it will take your mind off of reaching the notes. Trust me, it works!
