I happen to be atheist, and don't believe in any of it. But darkness isn't always a bad thing, and I don't understand why you think it would be, especially for the youth of the future. I don't agree that he has a point at all, sorry. First off, I don't find this very "dark" as you put it. Brian Molko has a very unique voice which I adore, and yes it may be a more raw and honest version of this song than the original, but that's because in this day and age, my generation (I was born in 88) tend to prefer music to be real, raw and honest. And not all happy and light, hiding the truth of the world.

I have been a huge fan of Kate Bush since she hit number 1 with "Wuthering Heights" in the UK for the first time in 1977. I saw her live and was blown away.

Some of the different group's interpretations are interesting and I have enjoyed them. Others not so much, and that is just my personal opinion. I would suggest for you both to just accept each other's opinion.

I have plenty of depth and prefer my music to have meaning and a bit melancholy because I feel the world is a much darker place than people try to pretend it is. I find it to be funny that everyone is saying who is better. I think placebo seemed to change the meaning if the song. I like this one better because I heard it first and it has a certain meaning to me now. Its like knocking on heaven's door. Saying she had less of a direction of what musical theme to be the most fitting to her own meaningful text than a cover of her own song is like saying dark chcolate catches the lighter taste of white chocolate better. I ain't saying this is a bad cover, it's very different. However, I think your subjective opinion is being kinda dominant, conentrating on this point.
