note: tony clifton didn't first look like that, Tony first appeared on an HBO Special which Andy appeared on... check it out, but this movie never really got facts right though JIm Carrey did a great job of playing as Andy Kaufman.
Wonderfully impressive movie. Jim Carrey was brilliant as Andy Kaufman. When it comes to put Carrey's best films (in acting department) my vote authomatically goes to Man On The Moon and The Truman Show. He deserved the Oscar or at least being nominated for this award. Courtney Love was great too - very underrated as an actress.
this movie confuses me. in that scene how tony clifton was portrayed was different to how it really happened. how can I trust that the private backstage moments with bob zmuba were portrayed accurately?
This movie attempts to whitewash all the facts. Truth is, these people were geniuses not because they were pranksters or misunderstood but because they got it. The world was being pranked and made to be misunderstood. Not just wallowing in Orwellian doublethink but also by being censored in *saying* that such existed in society. The true beauty is that whomever did the censoring put it on themselves what they were involved with. Why else would they get mad? What a very dangerous loophole indeed.
My point of view is that they are ahead of the parade, they were just in the wrong time, as i watch comedy i can't help but see so many things that reflect this mans character. do you beleive that he is alive. I believe that he died but too many people play around with this mans death. But he just wanted people not to take things seriously is what i get from him, and he died early because so many people wished bad on him.
omg can you imagine how mortified you would be if you saw this happening at a resturant and didnt know it was fake? BRILLIANT.

Think about it, who else would make an Andy Kaufman movie and give him brown eyes? Those baby blues were his hallmark.
