@tic07096903 Yes, out of the five people on that show, Jeremy was the only one who had actually been to the Arctic and encountered the danger that polar bears represent. As usual Clarkson was right about almost everything.

Stephen's face was beautiful, but I wish we could have seen Alan too. He sounded so hurt.

I love QI, mostly when Jeremy Clarkson, Bill Bailey and the kind of... big lady is in it, Joe Brand I think, just very 'chilled out'.

I normally find Jeremy Clarkson's TV persona annoying, but I have to admit, he's right on with the polar bears (except that I can think of some uglier animals). Taking off your clothes is a cute idea, but useless in practice. These are big, dangerous animals, not something in your local petting zoo. On the Svalbard Archipelago it's illegal to leave the settlements without a suitable firearm, but the polar bears still manage to have Tourist McNuggets every now and then.

I think he's just playing up to his exaggerated 'right wing tabloid twat' persona when he slags off polar bears. As noble a cause as environmentalism is, there does seem to be a misanthropic element to it that needs skewering.
