Great sound! Nice song that reminds me YOU'RE MY WORLD by Joe Satriani on different tempo! I'm also looking for my sound (blues rock pop) and whoch one among the following amps could fit? I dreamt of MESA BOOGIE Lone Star 412, but budget...
Totally sweeeet sound and perfect soulful and tasteful playing. You are right. This amp and guitar are the perfect combo for your wonderful style. Great job on this vid. It was a pleasure to listen to your work!
J'ai regarde toutes tes videos et je vois que tu as exactement les amplis que je veux.. Tu pourrais me dire lequel tu prefere entre le Vox NT, le peavey classic et le laney lc50? J'hesite entre ces trois la ! Merci :)
Nice stuff! Good playing. Can you tell me what setting were on the Classic 50 when you recorded this? Were you playing straight through the amp? Which Lace Sensors were you using?
This is refreshing! Too many folks post videos of out of tune, or me too playing. I love this playing and the top notch sounds. Keep up the fine work, and thanks for sharing this with us. This player could be playing just about any amplifier. It's the person not the gear. I love it!
Ciao Marco, bellissimi suoni e gran bel "tocco", complimenti.
Costa e pesa meno !
Really not too much ! I usually add a bit @ 60hz for the bassdrum and a bit @ 12Khz to add a bit of ....sparkling highs ! Nothing that could influence too much the guitar's tone !
@ShredMaster79 Ciao ! No..non conosco Addictive Drums.
I wish I knew how to upload audio to YT, you guys would be utterly shocked at the sounds I get with a GFS AlNiCo FatBody tele bridge pickup in to a classic 30 with soviet mil-spec 7189 substitutes, JJ-ECC83S in V1 & V2, a 12AX7WA in V3, and a solid poplar 2x12 with early 80's Fostex P.A. loudspeakers! It's so rich and warm, and the speakers along with the 12AX7WA tame the brightness just enough to let it shimmer but not shank! PM me with email address for plans for the cab (wood=$30-40) & MP3's.
Wow, nice piece of music! Really exemplifies the amp. And the video content sells it like porno for tone sluts. Been a Classic 50 man myself for years. Have always gotten the sweetest weeping tones out of it, and when you need it to, it can provide a scream that will cook your ears as you stand there agape. I had the C50 and a Fender Twin, but I was opting for the C50 so often that I eventually sold the Twin.
God I can't stop listening to this, get this out there man!!! it's gold man. The tone is to die for, I am getting ready to buy either a delta blues or classic 50, Im on the fence on which one to get first.
Can you get a decent tone on the classic 50 without blowing the roof off? Thanks
I think this is the perfect combo...great sound...I have a G&L S500 and a Gretsch 5122. I found your site by doing the Peavey research. Thanks for the help. I dig your playing...excellent!!!! Put this on a CD and try not to improve on it, to the point that it's not clean and straight up. I'm ready to by your CD.
This is the case, at least all the tube amps I've played have been louder. Might also be the more airy expression of the tubes vs. transistors, but I prefer tubes for the sound :)
they aren't necessarily louder. They sound louder because they have more overtones, or harmonics. Thus, a tube amplifier will 'sound' louder and be potentially more piercing to the ear. To answer your question simply, I'd say a 100W tube is louder than a SS
They're not louder, they just sound good when over driven past what they're rated for. The clipping that happens (distortion) sounds good so you're putting out more than 50w and still sounding good. A solid state amp will sound like crap when it starts to clip (distorts) so you're not going to want to turn it up louder than it's rated for.
The end result is that you can run a tube amp louder, because the distortion is pleasing.
Excellent tone.. I tend to be a bit OCD about tone and amps and you have done alot of MY foot work!! Thank you! I've got the quad EL84 Statesman, thinking of the switch..are you using anything other than natural overdrive? May I purchase a CD of your recordings for my personal listening pleasure...Seriously I enjoy the straight forward approach you use allowing the lead melody and chord progressions to tell the story on the platter of that tone.....Let me know! Blessings!Princeton, West Virginia
Thanks a lot for the kind words, bpuckett5 !! :-))
In this video, it's just guitar and amp, no pedals ! The overdrive you're listening to, is the Classic 50's overdrive ! I've added a little bit of reverb and delay on the lead track.
Sorry, I've no CD at the moment...maybe one day... :-))
NICE !! What is the chord progression ? Love it. Do you still have the Classic 50 ? Thinking about picking one up, got any advice ...

Also the VOX AC15\AC30 would be a nice alternative.

Wow - excellent. And props for using Reaper - the best DAW interface, IMO, at any price.
Pardon me if this was already asked - the reverb must be in the mix right? Stereo reverb added after?
Man that's a great lead sound - I can pick up a C50 4x10 for $300. I guess I should go for it ;-)

@intrsoul Hi, thanks !
Yes, you're right ! The reverb is in the "global" mix while the delay is a n FX track where I send the lead guitar track!

I hear that tubes are louder then solid state amps.
Like, if you had 100W of tube power and 100W of solid state power the tube would be louder, is this true?

Yes, this is true because solid state gives you exactly 100W and tube can be pushed further, therefore they are louder
