Wow is this for real? I actually have the original copy because I borrowed it from my friend but it's really hard to get into because it's so outdated. Snobby of me i know, but I started at P3 and loved P4. I'll still get this to support the Persona series, but if this can have P4 gameplay, it'll be an awesome game no doubt!

I played a roughly translated original version on an emulator. It was so horribly translated though. And the Americanized version wasn't that bad I mean hell your bro was a black dude. yeah i never owned a ps1 or psx but since its a remake i thought they would have better graphics. To me graphics is important it affects how i feel towards games. However games like star ocean even though its 2d its acceptable to me.
Don't forget it might just be the art style and not graphics. If you look up the old art style, it's very bizzare and jarring compared to the nice, modern slickness of P3 and P4's art. In fact, the Star Ocean 1 remake updated the art to today's industry standard instead of keeping the really old-school style (wild hair, sharper eyes, longer faces). As always, your mileage may vary. However, if you've liked the demon artwork up till now, those are from the original artist, so...
Oh no... Is the fighting style different than P3 and P4? It seemed like the 'war' turn styled fighting where you move around a certain chessboard like area and have ranged attacks.

No need to worry. P1 is a turn-based RPG. The only difference is that to acquire new personas, you have to talk to enemies in battle and coax their spell card out of them, rather than developing social links.:)
Im thinking the game play will be quite similar to Disgaea... Which is a fairly easy system to get used to (minus the Geo Symbols, those take eternities to get used to) so, it shouldnt be too hard. well, by now you have probably played it a bit who knows :O
Kinda like that, but with a bit of the traditional turn-based battle system. You only move units outside of battle (ie, you set up presets in a menu.) In battle, your placements are permanent, but you do get the "choose every move before you execute" kind of style that Disgaea has. It's a lot more classic style than a SRPG, but there are some similarities.
I am very happy to know that they are going to make a remake of Persona 1 I hope it will be release in English too. It has been such a long time since I last played P1, and even though the graphic and gameplay are not as great as the latest Persona 4, it still has excellent storyline, music and characters. Since I am a fan of older Persona games, I am so going to buy it. I wish they will still retain some of the music themes because they are great.
Lol, I already have NDS for that purpose, but I don't mind buying a PSP just for playing Persona 1 =) They better release a remake of P2: IS on PSP as well.
Same here. I was always a bit tentative about getting one, but this game looks fantastic and knowing they're working on the new english translation makes it a must. And there's been a lot of other pretty good games on the PSP recently. I have a DS too, but honestly I'm more excited about this than Devil Survivor....

Yes, there will be an English version, and they won't be trying to Americanize the whole thing like last time, so it'll be a new script.
ATLUS USA mentioned it in their newsletter, and I believe it was at their E3 booth as well.

It's not a real tactical battle system. You're on a grid but it doesn't make too much difference than what you're use to.
