This way, the deer has to keep running, every second of it... his heart is pounding, knowing that at any minute a mace could come out of nowhere and break his little deer spine. Every time the deer goes to look back, he see's Dovahkiin right behind him... bloodthirsty... and ready to kill!

But perhaps I'm just reading too much into this...
