  • How and why is it that she never medaled in the AA? Or the bars? I think she got silver in 72 but that was it, and I think the only gold in 76 was the team, and that was her only medal of that games if I remember correctly. It just kind of surprises me

  • PERFECTO

  • She didn't do the sole circle before her flip this time around. Interesting. Thank you for posting this! :D

  • you never see gymnasts do stuff like this anymore

  • @JessieandJosinaShow True but then the bars are set a mile apart and the rules don't allow moves like the Korbut Flip any longer.

  • Wow, that was amazing!!!!!

  • :O

  • she sfould get a ten

  • @pattinsonmusicfan she should have gotten a 10.0!!!!!

  • i love it

  • i thought uneven bars are farther apart than that

  • @PurpleElephant26 They kept on putting the bars farther apart as through the years to increase difficulty. Instead of the wraps and balance elements that the 50's were known for, the bars now have a swinging motion. That's why the Korbut flip on the UB that Olga Korbut is known for is now illegal. Because 1.It interrupts the swinging rhythm of the UB. 2.It is considered dangerous by the Code of Points to stand on the high bar. Search "Human Grace - Gymnastics 1952" on YouTube for more info.

  • this kind of beauty happens not often but once or twice only by one that created it namely this butterfly this angel LADY OLGA KORBUT; no nadia comaneci was no match to her; yes she captured people's hearts cause she's an angel a sweet butterfly

  • why do they call them the "uneven parallel bars" oxymoron much??

  • @TheMakerUpper The bars are parallel, but their heights are uneven. Without the "uneven" then they would look like men's parallel bars.

  • @TheMakerUpper Because they are uneven, i.e not at the same height, and also parallel. When the bars were first used back in the 40s (?? ish, don't quote me on that) they just used the mens' parallel bars and adjusted the height, so back then peaople still referred to them as such.

  • My dear Olinka! You still make my heart soar1 See you soon, baby! Jimmy Lee Young

    ( your Jimmishka)

  • I love her(:

  • beautiful performance. i love that trick on the high bar that she does. isn't it banned now? and why is her leotard so ill-fitting?

  • @LMA629 yea it is banned, it's been banned for a while now because you r not allowed to stand on the bar more than twice in a routine and u can't be on it for more than a couple seconds. and leotards were weird back then. made out of some diff material i think

  • @missmouse35 no. you are not allowed to stand on the bar AT ALL. Not even once. It breaks the movemnt of swing, thats why.

  • she's beautiful

  • Best Performance By Her. This Is My Favorite Gymnast. Beautiful Technique She Has.

  • what is the eagle catch

  • @SAX713 i'm not too sure either, i'm guessing its the one at 0:44

  • @SAX713 the eagle catch is when she catches the bar going backwards. it is a blind catch because you can't see the bars you have to sense where they are.

  • Olga had a real gift. Thanks for posting.

I think it's interesting that after Olga female gymnasts got smaller, and younger (like Nadia) and the 'pixie' type gymnasts dominated for the next couple of decades. Then gradually-helped by the increasing age-requirement-gymnasts started looking more mature again like the early '70's gymnasts such as Tourischeva and Nelli Kim.

  • I think this is one of the best performances of this routine I have seen her do, thanks for posting.

  • special commentary by Linda Metheney Mulvihill, multiple US Champion, and the first American woman to make an event final in the Olympics, 4 on Balance Beam in the 1968 Olympics, went on to coach and judge.

  • 4th at a time when East-bloc gymnasts dominated-that's pretty fabulous.

You can here her teammates at the end-like their modern-day counterparts on later Olympic and World teams-'Stoy'!

  • Fabulous! Thanks for uploading.

  • Awsome routine love the more layouted flip, Kida looked like a tuck kick out.

  • Nice video!! High quality... thanks for sharing
