  • ...and this ladies and gentlemen is why the Telecaster is the best guitar out there.

  • insane!! what an unexpected take on the TJ Brass classic!!!

  • This is unreal... and I'm hearing this man for the first time in my life!!

  • Thank you ChuckAkins for posting something us mere mortals can only watch and listen in awe. Thank you YouTube for allowing us to see this. And thank you Scotty & Bob for showing us how to play. I am humbled.

  • Wow simply amazing very clean play !!!

    Enjoyed every single second...

  • He doesn't need this recognition, cause he's got music in his mind !

  • Bob's a great player in his own right. His expressions watching Scotty......Priceless

  • It's simply incredible how he manages to be so clear and precise at playing walking base and melody at the same time. Wonderful !

  • Simply brilliant

  • +supports my theory that some are born with a little something extra, the rest of us.......well we will always be a couple (or a bunch) steps behind. Then we have the third catagory who just have to see if it can fly out the window like a frisbee. I make my home here (whats a few window panes). I've had limited success using the football approach (laces out of course). A slight top spin gives me a nice arc. 2nd approach using the fast pitch softball technique gives me more momentim.

  • All right, all right - IT'S REALLY HIGH TIME THAT SCOTTY ANDERSON GETS A C.G.P. title together with the ranks of the late Chet Atkins and Tommy Emmanuel!

  • how can anyone be so good???!!!

  • OMG...straight killing it!

  • and he had time to tune in the middle of the song.....Amazing playing!

  • fucking siiiiiiicck playing!!! :-) that was sweet.

  • every guitar player that can play knows that scotty is the shit, easy top 5 alive

  • This picker is so superb in all areas it is truly a joy to listen and watch him perform. Such much creativity and execution of sound. He is truly under appreciated in the world of guitar. He is the man .....10 stars......Keep up the great work Scotty, I know America appreciates your music.....

  • Wow !!

    Well done & much apprieciated.

  • What a gift! Superb!

  • Man oh man, Scottys got control. Just a awsome player.

  • Also, I have a tutorial on my channel called Rockabilly in 5 mins, curious to know what people think, if you're bored check it out!

  • I learnt alot from this guys hot licks video, and at first was blow away by his technique. It's interesting how Arlen Roth, whether intentionally or not, kind of puts down danny gatton, stating Scotty to be a 'True master of the Telecaster'. At first I could see why, but going back to Danny Gatton was refreshing. Danny Gatton is raw in comparison, but oozes feel and expression, whereas Scotty has incredible technique but doesnt excite me in the same way. What are people's thoughts on this?

  • @whyteman87

Scotty's technique and sheer musicality are astounding to me. I agree that Gatton seemed to "go for broke" more often, and might have been more tonally expressive and varied, but Scotty is far from dull or sterile. I hear him more like a clean jazz guy, where it's more about the notes he's playing instead of HOW he's playing them, like Gatton.

  • :13-:16...its truly amazing he can keep that bass line going.

  • I can do this any day of the week...in my dreams, anyway...LOL

  • wow...wonderful performance from both..they sure are having fun up there :)

  • The Amp-whatever is available. Scotty brings his guitar to shows like this, and is willing to play whatever is made available to him. Makes me think about another guitarist, Roy Buchanan, when he was touring would show up to a town a day or 2 early, go to the local music store and would hire whatever musicians that were available at the time. I thought this was just a story until he came in to Zapheralla's music store in Arlington, Virginia and did just that!

  • @1954tele

It's all in his hands. That's how the great players are. They can make anything sound good!

  • i jusy saw it and i notice i can barrely play my instrument... ta pesado mi compa......

  • That Tele just has such an awesome tone!

Anyone know what amp he uses? Looks like some sort of Fender behind him but can't tell for sure.

  • @walrus108 : I think the amp he uses is a cheap Peavey.

  • Truly the best. No one needs to feel jealous. Just enjoy it.

  • This is just amazing. Just givin' me a feeling that it's time to get a job instead trying to learn anything with guitar :)

Truckload of guitars and ams for sale!! I Quit!

  • i would love to know even just the bass part,,,,tabs?

  • Amazing, one of the very "few" best guitarists! Not easy to keep that bass-line going. Thanks for the video! That was fabulous...

  • Does anyone know what kind of thumbpicks Scotty uses? I'm having trouble with alternate picking on mine but Scotty seems to do it effortlessly. Thx.

  • What I do , I use a pocket nail clipper and trim the thumbpick shorter in a shape of a teardrop pick, this is working fine for me!

  • ! This video is awesome and has some superb guitar playing

  • absolutly wonderful ... Bravo !

  • ..excellent..

  • The thing is everyone watching this is mesmerized, amazed, enthralled, by this man's playing, and the thing that jumps into your head is "where's the tabs" to what Scotty just played? Why their in every music store across the country, just practice for a few hours and you'll play note for note what he just did---it's a cakewalk anybody can do it? That's why the thumbs down my friend.

  • Tabs?...who gives a shit!

How fucking anally retentive are YOU?

Scotty is just a brilliant guitar player.

Not many out there who can touch him.

  • Sorry for my igorants, but what are tabs? Sorry, I only listen to music, I do not play music.

  • Its a form of musical notation specialized for fretted instruments such as guitar.

  • Scotty makes no money off these postings. He doesn't even know they are on here unless someone tells him. He has no tab or chord sheets or books for sell. He plays for the love of it. Couldn't care less about the commercial end of the business. He would be happy that you wanted to learn the song after hearing his version. Would show you how if given the oportunity. It wasn't Scotty who ridiculed your response, so don't insult him because of their ignorance.

  • I've been playing guitar 50 years and have seen or heard almost all of them. I believe Scotty is the best I have ever heard. He does not get near the recognition he deserves.

  • Sooo....share this video with every would-be guitar picker that you know....maybe it will serve to inspire someone who can take it farther than Scotty? Or if you know a swell-headed 3 chord wonder....give him a dose of humility.....

  • päääooo alda!

  • WOW!

  • now this is A taste of Honey!

  • wow..you know what you're playin' :)))) thanks

  • Scotty has the tabs--they're in his soul....

  • Simplemente... excelente...

  • this man doesn't get the recognition he deserves. Scotty is as good as they come in my opinion.

  • @theboogieking078 ...if not better...

  • @theboogieking078 Guitar players just aren't a household name anymore.

  • I've heard about Scotty since 1989. HOLY COW! He makes it look so freaking EASY. Unreal!

  • Melodic improvisation at it's best.

    Fingerstyle on top of it.

God knows I must have watched this

    a thousand times already.Scotty just

    waltzes through the changes.Awesome musician.

  • First time I've seen SA. I'm totally blown away!WOW!

  • damn ur fukn good, paul will be proud

  • Hard to believe there was once a time music like this could not only be heard on the radio, but was at the top of the charts as well. Good to see some are still keeping the faith! Thanks for posting...

  • Chet once said that Scotty plays Chet better than Chet can himself. You have to be pretty much on the same scale or beyond to ever hear a compliment like that!

  • now, this is guitar playing!

  • Chet was a friend and a fan of Scotty's. There aren't many of the pros he hasn't played with at some time.

  • Very nice. If Chet were still alive, I think he'd be one of the first to applaud.

  • Nice to see a real musician.

  • Don't try to justify virtuosity man, the music speaks for itself. Peoplle will always find fault or think someone is better than whoever. Peace to all :-)

    Phil

  • Hey, krelbar, show "the old guy" some respect. He has been receiving accolades and awards for his playing longer than you have been born probably. This was an all day convention of finger style guitar pickers. These two shared the honor of being the special featured acts. Bob played earlier, but hung around to pick with is old friend Scotty. I think one of the first times they played together was in Paris France years ago.

  • Don't try to justify virtuosity man, the music speaks for itself. People will always find fault or think someone is better than whoever. Peace to all :-)

    Phil

  • A W E S O M E!

  • And you - krelbar - are a fucking idiot.

  • No one has a fucking sense of humor? Stop taking everything so seriously! Geez! And,BTW,he DOES look like he has gas.

  • You're actually surprised at getting negative responses to a dumb comment? Your posting wasn't humorous or offensive...it was just, well, meaningless.

  • Meaningless or not, I just find it funny how people get all worked up over nothing.

Gee the internet is fun. For me, anyway.

  • I've watched this video dozens of times over the past year or so - it never fails to please, never gets old!!! I've seen Scotty in Cincinnati - he's INCREDIBLE!!! This is perhaps the best!!!

  • This guy is ridiculus. By far the best at what he does. Gatton was right! He is the real deal. I wonder if can chew gum while he plays

  • every time I see this I'm blown away.Such greatness on every level.Wish I coulda been their.

  • Incredible Playing! ~Scuse' me while i pick my Jaw off the floor!

  • Would someone please post more Scotty Anderson Videos.

  • That was a great show these guys gave. Some of the best playing I've heard. Many more of the songs from that show are on here. They both did great but S. Anderson has to be the greatest player that most casual listeners have never heard of. He can play country, jazz, just about anything.

  • Scotty is up there with the best! Just Brilliant!!

  • This song has been stuck in my head for weeks and I could not remember for the life of me what it was! Thank god I saw this video again, hahaha.

  • I think this is one of tijuana brasses song by herb alpert check it out

  • Great arrangement, fantastic guitar technic and amazing improvisation.

If I remember this tune (not the Herb Alpert cover) is originaly wrote as a slow waltz ?

  • Great!!!!!!

  • THAT WAS SOOOOOOOO GOOD!!!

  • Fantastic! Does anyone have any Buddy Fite stuff- he was supposed to sound like a whole band on his own?

  • What just happened ? LOL

  • Anyone know where I can find tab/music for that? I'd love to give it a go.

  • DUDE that rules, Ed u will be able to do it =]

  • That's insane. I really wish I could do that!

  • that videos the sort of stuff i'm learning at the minute, must learn that one now... thanks for uploading.

  • Unbelievable talent!

  • In 1995 and 1998, Bob Saxton won the prestigious Merle Travis Nation Thumbpicking Championship.

He is an honorary member of the Chattanooga Thumbpickers. He has performed at the Grand Ole Opry. He is also in the New York Country Music Hall of Fame in Cortland.

  • Thats Brilliant!

  • nice

  • Holy shit hes good.
