The doctor is correct. Very honest. Unfortunately, Planned Parenthood did not tell me the truth. They did not say anything but it will hurt for a day. I took the RU486 and two months later I had to have surgery to complete the abortion. The participation was the hardest. The labor like cramping and blood. I wish the doctor was as truthful as in this video. This pill should be banned.

Statistics on this are skewed. Many go unreported. Why would PP report an adverse reaction from a profitable pill? @JoHannah57 I came from a pretty bad home, and my dad well I only knew him for 3 yrs of my life. I was stolen from home at age 1.5 and saw my mother again when I was 10 yrs old. Grew up poor in a third world country I remember having tape worms and we rarely had electricity. Yet I am happy to be alive. Poor and sad is always better than DEAD. any day of the week or year. Yes some people should not have them, but in the end that person born.. he will be glad he was born when the time comes.

Its not easy having to see all these girls my age forced to grow up because they cant afford otherwise. Do you know how often they still use Cytotec as the 2nd pill? I read that it can cause a woman's uterus to literally explode, and they have no way of knowing ahead of time which women this may happen to (since they don't know what causes some to be susceptible to that). The fact that they send young girls home with Cytotec is mind-boggling. These people are as bad as the old "back-alley" abortionists.
Planned Parenthood’s videos simply say it is like a bad period and all the women are so happy that they had the choice to have their abortions in the privacy of their own homes. What garbage! The truth is that Planned Parenthood loves this type of abortion because it is very profitable ($600 for a few pills) and because they don’t have to deal with seeing the babies or cleaning up after the abortions. The girls have to deal with it themselves.
@prolifeinga I've read PP's site and it mentions all the effects and the side effects. Most women experience this abortion as a bad period. Of course, there are always some who may suffer more. All these are cited in their sites though. And yes, many women feel relief after having an abortion. What exactly is PP omitting?

The doctor is only telling her the truth--which she needs to know in order to make an informed decision. It's certainly much easier to be better prepared for the trauma of what can happen to her at home, rather than have to idea what to expect.
When a woman goes to Planned Parenthood she is not given the facts like this video so clearly does. If that really happened, I believe that most likely the majority of women would choose not to abort. Instead they are misled to believe they are growing a "clump of cells" that needs to be removed. How would you explain that women are not allowed to see their own ultrasound or listen to the heartbeat? If you had any other type of medical intevention, you would receive all sort of info and tests.

Instead of trying to make the process of getting an abortion seem like something out of a horror movie (eerie music, flickering lights, whatever that thing at 0:40 was supposed to be), they should just present the facts and let people make their own decision. If abortion really is the wrong choice, the facts should be able to stand alone without the use of these cheap tactics.
@8brk That's true, but they're apparently trying to get this video to go viral. Without the dramatization it simply wouldn't attract as much attention. Also, I think that they are trying to portray the emotions and anxiety some women experience while going in for an abortion, which cannot be expressed as effectively with statistics. Still, they do provide useful facts with medical sources cited in the information bar, so I wouldn't quite call this propaganda...it's more like infotainment.

JoHannah- biased- really? I thought it was pretty even handed. And everything he said was 100% true. Isn't it a simple fact that a medical abortion kills an embryo? Obviously an embryo is growing inside a pregnant woman, whether you consider it a baby or not, the embryo exists. And the statistics on it failing 8% of the time and the possibility of blood loss are simple facts. I can't see how the information here is biased.

I'm sorry but this video is not formatted in a way that it can justifiably be considered only for the purpose of education of potential mothers. This video is borderline propaganda. If you make a video with dark depressing tones, shake the camera a few times and use the right wording you can make a horrible, disgusting video about child birth just as easily. Christianity teaches God knows you before you were even born, and evolution teaches humans came from evolving cell structures, so you'd think there'd be more recognition to the unborn.

@JoHannah57 I came from a pretty bad home, and my dad well I only knew him for 3 yrs of my life. I was stolen from home at age 1.5 and saw my mother again when I was 10 yrs old. Grew up poor in a third world country I remember having tape worms and we rarely had electricity. Yet I am happy to be alive. Poor and sad is always better than DEAD. any day of the week or year. Yes some people should not have them, but in the end that person born.. he will be glad he was born when the time comes.

@fromero69 yes i see what you mean, im growing up in Saskatchewan its the province in Canada with the highest teen pregnancy rate. Its not easy having to see all these girls my age forced to grow up because they cant afford otherwise. There so much that happens drug abuse, child abuse, and mental abuse to these young mothers because that's how it is around here. So sometimes in some places dead might be way better then a life of hardships.

I'm not pro-life. I'm not even really pro-choice. I'm pro-not having irresponsible sex and then relying on abortion as a form of birth control. But to those women who do choose abortion due to sexual assault or rape, whose decisions I do support, save the melodrama.

2. If you knew your facts, you would know that Planned Parenthood prevents abortions moreso than performing them. This video is very moving and it's sad how many stories women tell that have had abortions, stating that the abortionist didn't tell them the facts about their baby and body. I'm sixteen years old and decided to keep my innocent baby. We are all equally valuable, and their is never one baby that has the right to live and others do not. We were all embryos once...you only have your opinion, because your mother chose life.

Do you know how often they still use Cytotec as the 2nd pill? I read that it can cause a woman's uterus to literally explode, and they have no way of knowing ahead of time which women this may happen to (since they don't know what causes some to be susceptible to that). The fact that they send young girls home with Cytotec is mind-boggling. These people are as bad as the old "back-alley" abortionists.

Planned Parenthood’s videos simply say it is like a bad period and all the women are so happy that they had the choice to have their abortions in the privacy of their own homes. What garbage! The truth is that Planned Parenthood loves this type of abortion because it is very profitable ($600 for a few pills) and because they don’t have to deal with seeing the babies or cleaning up after the abortions. The girls have to deal with it themselves.

So to hide the awful truth of abortion procedures (ie: saline abortions that burn a fetus to death, abortions that cut the spinal cord of a living fetus & suck the rest of it's body out, etc), they generalize or hide the facts, telling women the "product of fertilization" is just a clump of cells. When a woman goes to Planned Parenthood she is not given the facts like this video so clearly does. If that really happened, I believe that most likely the majority of women would choose not to abort. Instead they are misled to believe they are growing a "clump of cells" that needs to be removed. How would you explain that women are not allowed to see their own ultrasound or listen to the heartbeat? If you had any other type of medical intevention, you would receive all sort of info and tests.

Pro-choicer here. I'm certainly not going to scream "propaganda!" or anything of the kind, although I think the "drama" part of the educational drama tended to take over. But once you cut past the attempts at emotive music or silly image distortions (ah, it's subtly portraying abortion as the decision of a warped and distorted mind - how clever!) you do get exactly what the organisation promises: FACTS. Nice, clean, indisputable facts.

Instead of trying to make the process of getting an abortion seem like something out of a horror movie (eerie music, flickering lights, whatever that thing at 0:40 was supposed to be), they should just present the facts and let people make their own decision. @8brk That's true, but they're apparently trying to get this video to go viral. Without the dramatization it simply wouldn't attract as much attention. Also, I think that they are trying to portray the emotions and anxiety some women experience while going in for an abortion, which cannot be expressed as effectively with statistics. Still, they do provide useful facts with medical sources cited in the information bar, so I wouldn't quite call this propaganda...it's more like infotainment.
