  • Now, thats a troll face ;P

  • What is with people crediting every single part of Metallica's early songs entirely to Mustaine? What where James, Lars and Cliff doing around this time, huh? Sitting around drooling onto their instruments?

  • @LuigiFanatic I heard James liked to stick it in Lars...

  • @locomotive147 I've heard that, as well. And the inverse. And that Lars liked to stick his in Kirk, and the inverse of that, etc. It's irrelevant anyway.

  • the song was originally written by mustaine ! back then when mustaine was in metallica they played "Mechanix" after he was out of the band they re-write it !

Out in new things, other vocals ... they only thing is the first riff ...

  • You guys are pathetic.

  • "were still here" i remember that shit hahaha these guys played a great set at KFMA day in tucson. this song was unexpected to hear from them. same as ...and justice for all

  • only lars....only lars:)

  • ktulu

  • @Yupitsvahag Mechanix has Daves fucked up vocals

  • thiefts

  • that was so awesome we were up to the right of hammet on the rail thanks so much for posting this!

  • damn, this song need back vocals of Newsted!!

  • @Kavelek get over it man.. it's over for him and metallica.. sorry

  • and over a simple misunderstanding you have taken the oppurtunity to attack, for what reason other than to glorify your attention seeking needs i dont know but i hope in the future you take the minimal time your brain needs to use logic before running off at the mouth and making no one but yourself seem like a child

  • It sounds like James had a cold, or a hoarse voice, or was just super tired that night. His Hummph is missing.

Even at that level, even on that song (played since what ? ...1982 (early version being Mechanix)) there are good days and bad days.

Still ... the Four Horsemen Ride!!

    "You're finished, thank you , goodnight ...." "Noooo!!!!" :-)

  • OR CHOSE YOUR FAITE AND DIE!!!!! MetallicA rulez!

  • blooody brillant !

  • what is this intro. never heard it before. sounds a bit like call of ktulu

  • Both are good songs though.

  • @chriski95

The intro does have a bit of Ktlulu.

  • the intro IS ktlulu

  • Comment removed

  • how could they play it with cliff ?

  • uhh cuz he died mad long ago.......thats probably why

  • the clean intro reminds me of diary of a madman.

    diminished scales ftw!

  • i think lars has given up on playin double bass on pretty much everything

  • Lars remiends me of you.

  • Great performance, the beginning sounded heavy as fuck

  • solid performance.

  • metallica 4 eva

  • hell yea!

  • Where is the running-horse sound effect double bass by lars?

he was damn good in playing that in 80s...

  • has anyone else noticed that lars has a huge forhead, Great live version

  • Lol i don't think it's his forehead it's a receding hairline:P Sorry Lars.

  • hmm this song is missing somthing it lacks a roaring bass like the original version

  • Is the next song "Seek and destroy"?

  • that's a safe bet.

  • i was there.. YES

  • No , that batman-ish part that starts at around 4:00 is not in the mechanix either

  • its a band that helps keep the sweat of his hand i think. its because of his very fast picking.

  • ive been following metallica since 84 they r better now ie sober than ever before i dont believe some younger bands could even keep pace with them now but say wat u want and have ur opinions i love metallica they kick ass been 2 53 shows fuck yea metal up ur ass

  • they are way worse, the vocals on this are terrible - all James does now is "croon" --- song doesn't sound right.

  • the man's almost 50 give him some credit.... plus he still hits all the notes and can nail his guitar parts plus their energy is incredible (ill agree nothing compares to '87-'92 Metallica) but modern metallica can still hang with the best of em

  • nothing compares to 84-86 Metallica...Ride The Lightning still sounds so good...

  • @espChris93 Wrong-84'-86' was the best live stuff.

  • haha i cant be wrong its MY opinion, and the reason i say '87-'92 were their best years is because they were playing under better conditions with better equipment since they were more established they also had a bigger set to choose from around 90-92 with justice and the black album out (which has some of their all time best songs on them) but your point is valid for sure cliff burton was an animal live and their sound form '84-'86 is still top notch

  • Ha,ha-i can't be wrong? You don't even think enough of yourself to use a capitol (I) Did you ever even see metallica live 84-86?I doubt it.Did you even ever see them 87-92? I doubt that too.Grow up! I think your mothers calling you!

  • in reference to me growing up I had the pleasure of seeing Metallica live on three seperate occasions throughout the late eighties and NO i havent seen them in person from 83-86 but I have an extensive collection of bootlegs, live shows, and traded tapes that are some of the best performances Ive ever heard but maybe if you wouldve taken more than ten seconds to read my post you wouldve seen that my opinion was stated in a resonable fashion merely discussing a great bands live history

  • you're so damn right..... i think they are better now too:) i love all the old songs... but when they play em now they are even more awesome:D:D

  • only thing is I think Hetfield's voice was better in the 80's

  • naaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh i prefer how it is now

  • I agree. Its still sounds good now, but it was much better in the 80's

  • I agree w/ u man.But I actually think wen they did the Damaged Justice Tour, his voice was fukin badass.Loved it in Live Shit.

  • they never do dat mellow bit in d middle when they play this live....

  • I hoped they were going to do the middle part ...

  • Nowa days they play at a lower tuning kus James cant sing as loud as before. HAHA. but thats what iv noticed

  • He can't sing that high...'HAHA' ?

  • he still screams though :)

  • LMFAO! you're a fucking asshole troll. But that shit's kinda funny.

  • it's really sad that james can't shout like he used to.

  • More recordings should be like this!! You can clearly hear Jaymz's guitar in the left channel and Krk's in the right channel. Cool!!

  • All their gigs are recorded, but you have to join the Metclub to listen to them.

  • where's the video??? Nice song...

  • metallica 4ever

  • ok fuckers METALLICA kicks MEGADETHS ass so hard and also James FUCKING HELPED MAKE THE SONG buy Kill Em All you will find it out pricks.

  • (Metallica @ Tucson 2008)when was this

  • i realy thought it wa impossible to make that solo faster but i gess i was wrong

  • Megadeath´s version "the mechanic" SUCK compared to this. And you know it, lol...

  • dave mustaine wrote this song! metallica just stuck a bridge in! i like both versions

  • The two versions have different lyrics for the most part.

  • @Patchanka1 i disagree with you men you must listen the demo of the four horsemen thats better than this

  • @Patchanka1 First of all its "The Mechanix" asshole. Also, when mustaine was in Metallica, you know they use to play The Mechanix live. But after Mustaine left, Metallica took The Mechanix and they made Four Horsemen. Its your opinion that Four Horsemen is better, but it was a disrespect to Mustaine because they used his music. So stfu and dont start the same fucking shit with the metallica-mustaine thing. Have a nice day.-

  • @PAPASPIDERMAN Yes Dave wrote the riff! BUT Lars did arrange the number and james wrote did lyrics AND the melody - so please stop giving Dave all the credit!!! - Asshole...

  • @Patchanka1

Not true. The only contribution Metallica made to the song was to include the riff in the middle of the song. Originally, Mustaine wrote the lyrics, the riffs, solos and arranged it. Also, Megadeth can still play the song without fucking around.

  • @Patchanka1 What do you mean Megadeth's version? Don't you mean the ORIGINAL version?

  • @KillJoy353 not really true, The Machanix was the original, megadeths is a slightly different version called Mechanix

  • @redwing104 It's the same thing sped up. Musically and lyrically there is no difference.

  • @Patchanka1 its NOT megadeths version, its metallicas early version of the 4hm, before Kirk joined the band.

  • Ha ha ha ha your not funny

  • Respect 4 Metallica 45 but still rocking your socks off not much bands who stay together for so long.

  • i want the full version! (including the slow part) why do they cut it???

  • Dave Mustaine, Dave Shitstaine.

Lars is but a shadow of his former self. But he has wound the clock back 10 years, alas not 20.

If Het's voice was an engine it would have about 500K on it. That said he sounds better than he has since he 'blew out his voice' some 15+ years ago.

I can tell they are trying (Lars could try harder, Dave Lombardo is the same age), which is a refreshing change from St. Suck.

They are now approaching being really old. Appreciate how awesome they still are

  • i get shivers everytime i hear METALLICA playing live

  • its metallicas song because it was released first yup ypup

  • That pic is hilarious. Sums up the way Lars plays the drums perfectly.

  • stop fighting who wrote the damn song, both this and the mechanix kick ass.

  • wow why dont we just like call em up if we can and ask them so you guys can shut the fuck up

  • James voice is improving so much.

  • i wa sthere fuckign awesomeeeeeeee i thought they were done after sandman but of course seek had to come

  • their is a god

  • Isn't it time they play the entire song :P

  • AWESMOME... there's not another word to describe it...

i should make a new word... AWESOME is a poor word to describe this!

  • My god! they´re playing fast again!

And james sounds so much better!

  • do you have the entire show?

  • oh my god theyre BACK!

  • Holy shit!! Hetfield is back. His voice I can't belief it... god damn!

Cya in one week james at Rock am Ring.. cheers

  • The Call of Ktulu, The Four Horsemen. Oh, Metallica!<3 Love 'tallica forever. Gives you heavy baybe!! \o/

  • they are better than ever..god bess MetallicA..thank you james Hetfield for everything!!!

  • holy jesus, this sounds really good!

  • ohhh fuck lars got it back, hes playing really good again

  • I think you need to lay off the hatorade. Jealous much??

  • yea ur acting kinda like a fucking retard. there would be no metallica if it wasnt for lars

  • wat the fuck are u talking about him and james basically worte every metallica song the new album from wat i heard is going to be good and every metallica album was good besides st.anger

  • him and james basically wrote every song huu better bone up on your metallica history their Clasics or should i say good songs were back in the days of mustain which cry baby lars had booted ..the music has become more and more diluted with each album ...mark down your fave songs and count the ones after one came out youll see what im getting at

  • kill em all a good album but dave mustaine influnce in the band was on song like the four horseman good song ,jump in the fire not a good song, phatom lord decent song, metal milita good trash song and ride the lighting good song dave only help write a couple of songs and those songs are ok songs compared to seek and destory, creeping death, motorbreath, for whom the bells toll any way ur not a real fan of metallica if u dont like all there stuff going up to load and reload

  • guess im not a "real" fan of metalica then because load and reload were a "load" to me... round the time i stoped buying metallica although lars on tv whining like a little girl about how internet music was robbing him blind helped turn me(same band that swore we'll never make a video,we'll never go comercial)) the whole pussy aspect of metallica can be found in one person lars he, single handed, took them from hardcore garage band attitude to pop star money counters...."sad but true"

  • it's not that sad because i dont think it effected kirk and james as much as lars because when the whole napster thing happen lars wanted to fuck everyone who took there music james was like dont do that people will hate us musically lars doesnt make any of the music he just arranges james and kirk make the music and cliff {iam nit counting jason because he contributed only to three metallica songs"

  • You know shit about Metallica, Lars is the main songwriter of the band along with James.

  • ride the lightning is deffinatly not on kill em all.....u might not be sayin that but it seems like it from the way u said it

  • i never said that its on kill em all i said it can be found on ride the lighting in the comment i left earlier it said nothing about kill em all

  • he means dave mustaine wrote it while in metallica but they never finished it till ride the lightning some people dont know that little fact but Thewilltodeath576 is right with everyword he just sed

  • Don't forget to mention that Dave Mustain still plays this song he just calls it Mechanix and has different lyrics

  • eh no shithead, they play HIS song, it was the mechanix to begin with then metallica took it slowed it down and changed the lyrics

  • no shit sherlock...I never said it was Metallica's song. Learn to read before you place stupid fucking comments. You gotta be the dumbest person ever on youtube

  • you sir, are correct

  • They said that because Lars met very important contacts..If you are so good but you don'0t meet people you can't go to the exit.

  • were not talking about the albums, he fucking nailed this track right here, he played perfect

  • Ill give him that...little bugger still iritates me though lol....personaly I would buy anything james worked on...how he can work under the stress that weasel puts on him is beyond me..if I never have to watch lars lick his lips and scratch his head thinking again would suit me just fine lol.and who prices their stuff for gods sake...compare it to other stuff on the rack its insane...Im betting lars gets most say in that matter to.I find it "sad" because theres so many WICKED drummers out there

  • Don't say anything stupid now.. Lars is a freakin great guy... I love that little danish bastard:p

  • well email him im sure he would like a date..just kidding i know he only acts gay

  • fuck you,you are a DIKKKKKKKKKK

  • Im a dick lol your the one back 6 months in sombody eles comments..this what you were talking about?

him and james basically wrote every song huu better bone up on your metallica history their Clasics or should i say good songs were back in the days of mustain which cry baby lars had booted ..the music has become more and more diluted with each album ...mark down your fave songs and count the ones after one came out youll see what im getting at

  • this?

"guess im not a "real" fan of metalica then because load and reload were a "load" to me... round the time i stoped buying metallica although lars on tv whining like a little girl about how internet music was robbing him blind helped turn me(same band that swore we'll never make a video,we'll never go comercial)) the whole pussy aspect of metallica can be found in one person lars he, single handed, took them from hardcore garage band attitude to pop star money counters...."sad but true"

  • they played it almost as fast as the mechanix

  • love the call of ktulu at the beginning...

  • Wow I think they sped it up!!!! Hahaha fuck yeah!

  • is this in e tuning?!

  • No...it isn´t in E tuning...it´s the same Eb...it´s so hard to James sing in E again...because of the problem that he had in the past when they played the black album!!! But his voice heard much better that the 2003-2007 years!!!

  • I think his voice was great in 2007. 2003-2006 was pretty bad.

  • This voice...it´s so good!!!

  • "why are you still here???"

  • it's call of ktulu

  • lol

  • LOLOLOL AT 220g

    hahahah

"Cool. The intro sounds like something new."

  • the intro is the instermental called call of the ktulu which can be found on ride the lighting

  • That was just a jam.

  • no shit and also i know james writes all the music and lars helps arranges the ideas lars has never conbrited any musical ideas to a song it been james with sometimes kirk and example of lars arranging is on enter sandman when he told kirk to play the riff 3 times instead of one time

  • Aside from Motorbreath, Lars has helped write every song.

  • lars only arranges the song

  • Look at the album credits, and Lars helps write the songs... You are just stupid.

  • wat i think ur not understanding is i knew he gets credit for the song and listen here he-does-not-help-write-the-music-he-arranges-it-james-comes-in-with-riff-and-lycris-and-basicly-the-whole-song-and-lars-says-ok-instead-of-playing-that-riff-2-times-play-it-four-times do u understand now or u to retared

  • Retared? You are a fucking retard.

Even if he does that, he is still writing the song you dumb fuck.

  • ok fucknut but when it come to publishing right james get all of it and i fuck up typing of the computer go fuck urself

  • James does not, because Lars is on the writing credits on the album... I am LOOKING AT THE FUCKING ALBUM RIGHT NOW!

  • cant we all just get along?

  • ha ha. your comment made me LMAO for some reason. thanks dude
