the new serving rules are terrible. the game use to be about rallies. the top of the racket-head had to be emphatically below the waist but now it's a grey area around the lowest rib and players push it to the limit. any sign of double-motions what-so-ever use to be an immediate fault. now, the players are working all kinds of subtle fakes and jerky movements into their serves.
there's still great rallies but it's not fun watching great players win cheap points... like this match point.
Yes...every point is impt. This issue is you have to respect your opponent right? celebrating after every point shows a lack of sportsmanship and poor upbringing... period..
@mivec81 Not at all - they are happy they won a point, nothing more. The way Smith often does it shows a lack of sportsmanship - shouting in your opponents face. Wijaya/Gunawan do it too btw, so dont complain only about Cai/Fu
@mivec81 When they "celebrate," they don't mean any disrespect or "haha i won" that kind of stuff. What they're really doing is improving their own psychological game. It really has nothing to do with sportsmanship or upbringing.
good game. It was anyone's game. A very close match. Great finish. But I must say the commentators sounded irritating, too bias towards the China team. Guess it's their right to support their countrymen. Long live badminton!
Taufik is a loser in this game. On the other hand, indonesian fans as a whole are all-time losers; especially the chinese speaking indons who made ill-gotten money and bolted their own country(loyalty absolutely doubtful)yet when come to badminton, they want to show their loyalty. Those chinese are cowards
@ kulotpogi your wrong, the 1st ranked in the world for now is Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan, they from indonesia. Plz check again your info before comment. But thanks for upload the vid ahtat!!
They are really my idols....Haifeng and Cai are the best..thats why they ranked 1st in the world..they are spectacularly magnificent!!!! I used to do some of their techniques because i play badminton pretty good too.. Thanks for the upload. Thats a great fight!!!!
Perhaps next Olimpc 08, gunawan will comeback to USA team, playing double with louzy player Bach, but they're not gonna win that time. Hopefully gunawan&bach will meet wijaya & budiarto again, ......
winning or achieveing something great has nothing to do with luck. Especially on a game like this. It is a combination of hard work and perseverance, that makes a man victorious.
that last serve was not illegal, if anything that chandra's guy serve is should be illegal, he waits for his opponent to do his stance and then he like does a rush serve, that should be illegal
That's definitely an illegal serve. It doesn't take a genius to know that. The umpire should've known better. It's even worst when it happened during critical time. If Tony/Chandra were 5 years younger, they would've beaten the Chinese pairs in 2 sets easily.
but if tony/chandra were 5 years younger , they may not have that kind of reading of the game. i think we can not judge that way. i think they become even more mature in the game when they can't win so much by their power factor. they gained they experience in these long time of playing ..but we can say that with the same reading of the game ,smart playing by tony/chandra, and 5 years younger , they would hv beathen the Chinese pairs in 2 sets
y cant u accept that the indo's lost??? just accept the fact. . .and i think the umpire knows better. . . u cant judge if the serve was illegal bcuz ur WATCHING IT IN A COMPUTER!!!!!! u dont hav the line of site as the service judge or umpire has!

@ahtat Yeah same here - its always a disappointment to be outdone by such a service, but it must be much worse when it costs you the semifinal of an AE Ch...
One of the best doubles games I have ever watched. Those flat, fast exchanges were awesome.
LOL the last flick serve was just BEAUTY!!!!

Why do they return their serves? Their short every time.

no, they only "seem" short...

yeah.. pros practise their serves so many times a day, it would not be short every time.
