funny how toyotas and not nissans are haveing that problem. do you know that toyota changed their toyota drive to synergy drive becase they put the same hybrid engine in nissan. thats rite instead of nissan spending dillions on research and development they just buy the engines and gas pedals from toyota. yet not a single nissan has ever been accused of sticking pedal yet they have the same exact system. just a little industry insight for ya
also when you hit the brakes when your hitting the gas one interesting thing happens. the gas stops working. lol nice feature one of the reasons this was done is because people tend to hit both pedals at the same time accidentally when they are driving a new car or one that they are unfamiliar with, and go through store walls. i can tell you i witnessed 2 buicks and 1 cadilac do that in the 90s
so blayne take your lib but and post about something you know some info on dont just make dumb comnt
I also feel like the woman who testified tearfully before congress that her Lexus took off like it was "possessed by the devil" is a hoax----While her Lexus was speeding away she took time to call her husband "for the last time to hear his voice" instead of using her concentration to figure out how to stop the car. She sounds too stupid to take her foot off the gas pedal.
When I first heard of the story, I though it was fake as well. The first thing is the timing (on the same day Toyota defending the fix -- either it's an extremely unlikely coincidence or the guy is trying to get money). Then there was his story of him don't have time to put the car in neutral, but he has time to try pull the accelerator out? And there was also repeated calls from 911 and police to get him to shift into neutral, but he refuses. Last thing is he gave a news conference.
Slushomatic: What year Prius model was your test performed on? When was the last break inspection? Are you on any medications? Do you have a BS-ometer? Mine was pegged at the very moment I heard this "story"
ummm the prius breaks are not the same as mustang breaks. the prius has extreamly anemic breaks and i just tried my friends prius as i keeping the gas full on and the breaks didn even make a dent in slowing it down.
Did you fully press the brakes. Granted they're not "mustang" brakes but the prius doesn't have power to overcome the brakes, especially at highway speed.
Get your facts straight. Either put it in neutral, or turn the engine off.
You were probably at a complete stop when you tried this.
@slushomatic what not everyone can think when they are panicking. dude the reporter said that the 911 operator told the guy what to do any the guy was giving stupid reasons y he can't
Being a Chevy enthusiast it does not matter how weird it may sound but I'd rather support Toyota than Obama socialism plan to nationalize US auto industry and get rid of foreign competitors. If this policy continues with orchestrated media support of cases like "Runaway Prius" and others quite soon US companies will be crippled so much they won't be able to compete with even Russian auto makers, not to mention Japanese. So this policy is hitting America back like a boomerang!
I've never heard of vehicle with stuck acceleration that couldn't be shifted into neutral. Those drivers who are too stupid to shift a vehicle into neutral under such circumstances have no business being on the road. But this particular case smells of fraud.

Maybe they are trying to make Toyota look worse, so Ford or GM can sell some more .

As usual, "Bully Fox" has it's head up it's own ass. Fox doesn't "speak" for me (everyone on the whole planet...). go fuck yourself, Fox.

I hope that the man will get reprimanded by the law for abusing the 911 emergency system.
