Hey Violeta, I really enjoyed watching, and can only repeat what others have posted in regards to capturing the atmosphere at the locations you were at. Unfortunate for the narration though, it took down the tempo of the docu...just my opinion. Keep up the good work. Greetz, Erika.
hey Mike, thanks for the positive comments, as for the narration, I found it troubling too, at first, but there is an explanation for that - my mom´s company hires another company that provides the driver service, and so she herself has little influence on Daniel´s pay -except of course with tips. It´s a complicated situation, because a change in contract led to his not being paid and it´s not so clear who can be held responsible- I´d have to go into depth on in the complete film.
Good work, Violeta, something very touching to do with hoe comes across midst all the color, i shard the excitement of the visit and thrilled at the shaky images of the man when he finally arrived. Being shaky made them better somehow.
it was a bit troubling that your nice personal narration, in identifying the first character as your mum's driver, reports that he hasn't been paid in three months. What sort of a mum does she have, one wonders? I'm sure it explainable. Mike
nice work Vio! you really capture the scene and the feel of the event - love the color, the music, the anticipation. Really made us have a more profound understanding of Obama's presidency for Africans, the pride and excitement. Can't wait to see the rest. luv-A&G
Great to hear you liked it, especially since you have travelled so much in Africa yourself. A big hug for you and your mom! Hope time will bring us together again soon.
hey, you are the first person who mentions the analogy which I stumbled upon and thought it went along very well with the theme. a thank you goes out to Leona for translating that part for me! have you sent her the link?

I especially enjoyed the colorful fabrics created with Obama's image. It will become a quilters delight while capturing a moment in history.
Special thanks to Violeta from distant cousin, Anneliese Horst

I liked the part about staying on the throne, and the analogy of the seamstress on change using fabrics differently
