please someone help me am so fucked off. How do i record from my dj mixer and into the laptop usin rca lead into the microphone socket without hearing fucked up sounds ? I have tried everything but i cant do it. Please help
thanks for the video,, it showed me what i needed to know..(eg) hooking up the the mixer to the pc, but you should have done the prep work before, all the chatter made it a little less interesting
When have my USB Turntable plugged in, I can't hear any other sounds coming from my computer. Also, how can I listen to the record even when its not being recorded?
@zuma5278255424 I don't own a usb turntable so I can't tell you for sure. I imagine that once the turntable is connected to the computer, you probably have to select it as if it's a soundcard. There's probably a install disc that came with the unit for any drivers you might need.
to just listen to vinyl, I suggest a standard stereo system with a Phono input to connect the turntable to.
@zuma5278255424 Right click on the little speaker icon on the bottom right > click on recording devices > Your usb turntable should be showing in the list, click on it > then click on the listen tab at the top > check the "listen to this device" box and apply.
@krisz1085 I always thought it wouldn't be loud enough without some type of pre-amp boost. Bonus from the mixer is you usually have access to some eq tweeking
Could you please help me connect my Rane MP22Z to Audacity! I think I need to set the settings on the Audacity program. I can't seem to connect it right!
Convert your records to mp3..that's cool..but NEVER GET RID of your records..put them into storage...mp3 won't be worth shit in the future and didn't you love your vinyl? damn!
True you don't wanna give away your old tapes, CDs, LPs, etc. away just use them for storage. The way to convert them all to the computer and stuff is easy and last a longing lifetime. Y'understand? Love mediaconverter, zamzar, youconvertit, now I'm getting use to some software that's out there 2day you can do it yourself.
So it´s possible to do some scratching with a USB-turntable, when making beats on my laptop, right? I mean it´s all about record the sound you put in, so scratching should stick to the recording, correct?
There can´t be no "auto-digital-correction" or anything stupid... I wanna scratch some vinyls to my beats on the laptop.
thank you brow, i was testing here, the program is really good, and you tutorial was great, i think like that 2, i cant tell between a 320kb and wav, lol, ok brow thank you one more time
hey funkyrob, et me ask you a qustion, what is the diference between peak LE and audacity? i waned to transfer my vinyls, but i wonder if the quality stays good in a club sound system, you know, i play in alot of raves too, so since is usually open air, i need good quality, is the quality good with audacity? converting to WAv w/e..
Truly the main difference I'd say is $99. Peak LE "looks" a little more appealing to the eyes and seems to run a bit smother. I think only dogs can tell the difference between a 320bit MP3 and a WAV file. Unless you are dj for the zoo or something, nobody will notice the difference. If you are creating the files yourself, they are certain to be good quality files. Mine sound just like the original vinyl, light clicks, hisses and all.
One more thing that I've noticed is sometimes audacity will playback the file with drops or pauses in the audio. Fear not though, the pauses aren't really there. Playback in Serato, Traktor, etc. is fine.
I totally agree. With the wear of the needle and of the actual record, the time to transfer the song, crop the file, normalize, etc, it's better to archive your file in the highest possible quality first and then compress it to MP3. And personally, I'm keeping all my vinyls because they'll still work once when my CD-Rs have rotted in less than a decade for no reason. If only the industry would provide us with an archival quality media for digital data...
I answered your question on video 2. If I understand correctly, it sounds like your connecting to an input from the mixer instead of an output. Use the booth output if that's all you have, there should be a volume know somewhere on your mixer. There's also setting for input volume on the software.
ey whats up FunkyRob!! your right i havent seen one of these vinyl to mp3 converter vidz yet... by the way thats 1/8 in end...lol. nice one. hahaa. its cool to watch and get a feel of your space with all your equipment.
as for me I converted with Rane/Serato. good stuff.. I may take a stab at putting some personal in your face type videos soon... b ez.
hey, u know when u export a song and it asks u for song info? , ya well i set that to a default for one of my albums and now i dont know how to change it back - please help

any one knows wich is better for djs mac or pc? answer me back thanks
GRUMPY92105 3 years ago
It looks like that device replaces the need for a mixer.
A standard turntable needs some type of pre-amp or mixer to boost the sound signal and I think that's what you got.
FunkyRob 3 years ago
do you plug that into record on your mixer and into the mic slot on your laptop???

Just buy the turntable or cassette deck with the USB connection. But I convert using Creative Software.

Also, at the time the USB tables weren't out yet (I think)
