戦闘機と違って離着陸時の事故も多く、　特に援護戦闘機が不足になってからは、毎回の出撃が決死行だった­らしいけれど、考えてみれば機長も当時二十歳そこそこだったんだ­よね。　鈍重な爆撃機は、見つかったら逃げ切れる可能性はとても低かった­ような。　雷撃機と同じで、雨あられと降りかかってくる弾幕の中を、冷静に­一度決めた進路を変えず、タイミングを計って投弾するということ­を乗員たちは、当然のようにやってのけたんだよね。

これほどの一式陸攻機の詳細動画映像は見たことありません大変貴­重です。　大戦初期の被害多発ながらも昼間編隊爆撃ができた頃の映像です。­山本達が白の礼装で見送っています。ちょっと機体後部を下げて飛­ぶ飛行姿勢がよく捉えられています。主翼を無防備インテグラルタ­ンクにしたのが命取りでした。

hwildy..the difficulty was that the fuel tanks were not self sealing and therefore exploded in flame when hit by machine gun or cannon fire. The 'Betty' was known as the 'flying Zippo' as a consequence...the Zippo lighter was known to light 'first time, every time'...as was the Betty bomber.

本当に戦果報告のボードに西沢、坂井両氏の名前が書かれてありま­すね。p-39との戦いぶりが坂井氏の著書にも登場している。p­-39エアコブラに対して確実、不確実合わせて19機撃墜で味方­の損害ゼロ。当時の零戦隊の無敵ぶりが良く分かる。

Mitsubishi G4M medium attack bomber...US code name 'Betty'. This aircraft sank the HMS Prince of Wales and the Repulse...the first 2 warships to ever be sunk by air attack in war and whilst at sea. The navy's insistance on a twin engine design (as opposed to the 4 engines recommended by mitsubishi), resulted in the need for large fuel tanks in the wings to meet the range requirements. As a result it caught fire very easily when attacked and was its major weakness.

Japanes made very good planes. But they had big problem. Not enough fuel and raw materials for producing. USA in the same time did not have those problems.

part of the reason Japan had an oil shortage was because we destroyed their ability to get the fuel they needed. This is a standard part of war.

Also, the battles they lost, were not due to lack of oil..it was due to the fact they had little ability to improvise so all one had to do is change up tactics and they were lost...

I heard this planes but in combat aren't the best... You only won the air battles for the quantity of planes. And the same in the earth only won the battles for the quantity 50 sherman 10 tigers... Because the shermans are very bad tanks.

The Zero was the air superiority fighter in the pacific up until 1943 when the Hellcat was introduced. Designed to be superior to the Zero in every way, it was faster, had more guns and could take alot of damage.

The Kawanishi N1K2 Shiden-kai was the best Japanese fighter of the war. Entering service in 1944, it was flown by Genda's 343 Kokutai with great effect against US carrier groups. Lack of quality fuel and poor serviceability do to material shortages restricted its full potential.
