  • No {CAN} beans please but I believe you did it with great intention, Hatian love their food FRESH!!

  • im sorry no thats not how my mom does it. Haitian food is the best in the world after haiti its D.R

  • that's not how you cook haitian food . smh

  • smh

  • Alia! labass ? I think you should make another Haitian dish. Make sure its better than this one,I read the comments and it seems like Haitian people are not happy... U know why :) The same is my reaction when some people try to make some Moroccan dishes like Couscous and Tageenes, but they come up with ways that have nothing to do with Moroccan cuisine. To all the Haitian people I say that Alia's intention was to help the Haitian Cause after the earthquake, and we should all thank her for that.

  • WOW this not how you make haitian rice with red beans you just disrespected our food smh -_-

  • You all could be a tad kinder to her.. I mean, really! We all make mistakes!

  • Sorry Lady, i'm from Haiti and i never saw any Haitian cooking rice with red bean the way you just demonstrate. If someone taught you this and told you that's how Haitian cook it, they done lie to you honey lol..I suggest you check with a real Haitian before you add the word Haitian in front of any of your cooking. You may fool others but you can't fool us Haitian.. No offense, but seriously this is not the right way

  • we boil our FRESH BEANS, the lovely red water we use to make the rice. Beans are also sauteed to release starch, seasoned (lots). OMG, there are no short cuts with haitian food. Canned beans? Are u insane?

  • OMG, That is sooo wrong. Seriously u are offending the haitian community by calling that our rice. Wow! Unbelievably wrong!

  • that was allllll wrong !!!!where was the apiece??!!

  • @Msari222 That's what I'm saying!

  • ALSO WE BOIL THE WATER FIRST.. THEN WASH THE RICE.. THEN ADD THE RICE..IDK WHO TAUGHT YOU

  • US HAITIANS DO NOT EAT CANNED BEANS...WE EAT THEM FRESH.. BUT NICE TRY.. EVERYTHING ELSE WAS OK

  • Nice video :)

  • At 1ST I was like what's this but we always talking about people hating on haitians, so thanks for representing in the best way you know how!!! Dry beans is the way to go. However, some Jamaican use canned beans for their rice &beans(They call it "rice&peas").

  • just from looking at your finished product I can tell you don't know how to make haitian rice. dont embarrass yourself and put a real haitian on this!

  • @jsaintphard although i have to say that you have a pretty face.

  • I'm not haitian and I'm not even convinced this will taste authentic...

  • CANNED BEANS???? That is ridiculous.

    She can't cook.

This is NOT how you make it.

  • good job with the toutorial, but haitians food are not cook that way,not at all.canned food does not run in our ingridents.nt to be rude, u wouldnt find a haitian eating that food it has to be done the correct way, they very peeky about how their food taste like.

  • That us not how you cook haitian rice. I'm haitian I should know.My mom cooks this dish once a week every week.

  • Um u mader it wrong it has to be brown

  • Can you put the ingredient list under the video (more info section)? Thanks

    alia

  • Coucou Alia ! Rahim taught me how to make his Jamaican rice. It's similar but he uses coconut milk and some pineapple juice instead of water... you should try it. It's so good !

  • very good video ignore the haters

  • Oooh you did a great job, thank you for the demo! You should try more Haitian recipes :o)

  • OUR FAV.. DISHES R GRIYO N ACCRA N FRIED PLANTAIIN

  • yo grissonance élevée sur le riz. c pcq c une blanche

  • can u cook some Nigerian/ West African Cuisine

  • How u go from Moroccan food to Haitian style, anyway thanks haitian like sauce and black rice.

  • Hi. Looks really good!

  • looks good, thanks

  • Delighted to see your version of the Haitian red beans and rice recipe but completely different from the original one.

  • Thank you for leading the way .....

  • Can brown riced be used instead of white?

  • Can anyone who said that this was not the best way to make this dish please post the proper way to make this? I am interested and want to know how to do this the right way. Thank you.

  • @zunidoll2 she actually did a good job even tough she did not use the traditional ingredients. Thank you for taking the time to create the video.

  • @CookingwithHaiti No offense, I think this looks like a very good recipe. I just don't understand why anyone is criticizing her and what her religion or political views has to do with it. Also, why would anyone be insulted at her attempt to dedicate a dish to the people of Haiti?

  • @zunidoll2 read my comments again .

  • I want to thank you for making this video, I'm just sorry that of the comments I am reading below of the criticism. Everyone should just appreciate and be glad about her effort in our culture instead of turning it into something negative, if you have suggestion or tips, just write them and move on or better yet create your own video.

  • I think you did a great job, but the last few steps are not the way Haitians make their rice. They fry the beans first, then they add boiling water, then they add the rice. I have some great Haitian dish videos on my page. Adding water twice while the rice is cooking can make it too soft. Haitian people don't like soft rice (du riz pat) lol..Thank you for this video and your support to Haitian community. More people should do that instead of criticizing!!!

  • I want to make this the authentic way, at the suggestion of many Haitians commenting. How much dried beans should I use? Also @ TheRelo101, what homemade spices should be used?

  • i like the organization in your videos. What song is that your playing in the background?

  • @workit718 the song was Haiti Cherie BY JACQUES SAUVEUR JEAN--- /TWOUBADOU VERSION

  • we do not make rice like dat

  • We use dried beans andboil them, then we fry them, and add the water that was used to boil the beans, which is now brown, to the fried beans. Let it boil for a while and add the rice.

You dont add the rice before the water...The rice is the last thing you ADD!!!!

  • its nice to have other cultures so interested in haitian cuisine and it was a good effort. but this was totally wrong from beginning to the end. first of all you forgot to make your homemade spices., then we never use can bean in this recipe. BIG NO NO. we wash are rice and very important we don't add extra water if it wasn't fully cook we have our own way of covering the pot in a way where the steam does not come out , so it can be fully cook. anywayz nice try.

  • Im haitian and we dont cook with canned food at all and we wash our white rice before cooking it. Our beans are boiled thats how our rice always gets that gold brown color and the beans have a fresh taste. But that was a great alternative:-)

  • Im sorry but when I look at when haitian people cook rice and red beans you like wash the rice and you put the water first. Great you like tried but my mom said it was all wrong and alot of other haitians. Whoever showed you how to make it taught you wrong. Awsome effort though

  • its suppose to be orange !?

  • Nice video. Thank you for sharing.

  • SA BLANC DI LA??!! mezanmi fanm sa gaté manje nou net!!

  • @G00NTT that was too funny what u just said, ki le haitian janm mete diri avan dlo epi canned bean i mean she tried but fail

  • Comment removed

  • what's the song name?

  • hum hum

  • U did a good job girl.... but the thing i dont like is the can beans, the rice need to be wash, let the water boil first before add the rice. i give you 7 points for that good job....

  • It was really sweet of you to make this video for the Haitians. I think you did a good job.. However next time dont use canned beans... Haitians dont use canned beans for this recipe.. But GOOD JOB once again! I think the food looks terrific....

  • no canned beans but great job

  • Thank you for your good intention. But it is not the real Haitian rice with beans 's recipe: this rice lacks of color and flavour, it's too white. Haitian rice with beans must be colored by the water of cooked beans. Haitian rice is "rosé"!!!

  • I'm not sure if that was your first time cooking Haitian cuisine, but you did a really good job. The only thing that you might want to tweak is your use of canned beans. If you used the packaged beans it makes a world of difference. you not only get a better flavor, but you can also use the water you boiled the beans in to add extra flavor and color..*some Haitian people get really testy when people use canned beans lol it's like you telling an Italian that ketchup makes good spaghetti sauce lol

  • @came123yahoo

I will certainly try it next time with the read red beans. thanks for the tip :-)

  • @came123yahoo Yes you are right! She should have used packaged beans, boiled them, then washed the rice. Us Haitians get testy over people just putting rice in the pan before washing

  • @came123yahoo LOLZ we do. ahaha

  • I am sorry but I am Haitian and I take great offense to how this rice is prepared......This is not how we make our rice. If a haitian has never taught you how to prepare the rice do not advertise it on you tube. I take great offense to this video. You have taking the soul out of Haitian red beans and rice.

  • @Iambeingme23 I think she did good, alil twerks won't hurt. Obviously she is not haitian, so ofcourse she not going to do it just like us. It was atleast good effort. So don't be a downer. =) { FYI I am not trying to be rude}

  • @Iambeingme23 i agree. i know how you feel

  • does any1 kno the name of the song in this video? n the artist. n wat haitian uses cannd beans????

  • @dest908 Jacques Sauveur Jean (jackito) is the artist..i believe the song is ayiti cherie

  • I really appreciate this video... I love the song ;p!!!!

  • not many haitians used canned beans to cook

  • This is a great video. You can also use parboiled (Uncle Ben's) rice as well, but the best brand is Canilla. :)

  • You say to cook the rice at HIGH heat...uh-oh! I suspect you mean low or medium low??? Thank you...and prayers of healing and hope to the people of Haiti...my donation went to DoctorsWithoutBorders because they were already working in Haiti when the 'quake struck...but any organization like Red Cross, UNICEF, etc. is worthy of people's generosity at this tragic time. Rise up, Haiti!

  • delicious and easy!!! i have only one observation: maybe you should cook it at medium heat rather than high: i was cooking at high heat and the water has evaporated much faster than needed.

  • Assalam 3alaykom Alia,

You should make a video for Palestine too, maybe it would have the same effect you're expecting for Haiti.

  • @mahassine55 Alia is a Christian lady, she doesn't care about Muslim death.

  • We are all humans, beyond religions! Lihom Allah a khay!

  • @mahassine55 Jews also are humans!

  • It's a long and never ending debate, and that's why I told you it beyond religions, religion"S".

  • First, I am not Christian, and my religion does not determine the videos I make.

Second, I chose to make a video for Haiti because it was a horrible natural disaster and it is not affiliated to any political debates or anything of the sort. I am making cooking videos and I dont want to include any of my religious or political beliefs in my videos. But I am sure we can all agree that a natural disaster is out of the hands of human beings or political leaders.

  • so why you collect donations for hati? stay away from politics If you don't want to see political comments lol

  • what happened in Haiti has nothing to do with politics. It was a natural disaster, and no one can control that.

  • @cookingwithalia collecting n donations for Haiti is not a natural disaster, it's a political cultural action !

  • @ doukkali125

This is not politics, it is about helping human beings in need.

  • Well said . dont let that guy get you down sister . Some people Choose to be sour all their life and never seem to understand compasion , and there's not much you can do about them but stay out of their way as much as you can and ignore them the rest of the time . On a lighter note i have come to call your videos my moroccan torture because i am engaged to a sister in Casa and going there in April . You have me almost as excited about the food as i am about getting married lol almost Salaam

  • Last time I was here you had long hair... looks fantastic short! Great video too. I love your videos as they come across as 'old school' food and not the newest culinary dish on the block.

  • this music is muchhhh better than your normal one. (:

  • Youre the Best!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fried CHicken plzzzzzzz??

  • This video is to bring attention to Haiti using their dish and music. This is my way to help and possibly get some people to donate as well.
