Awesome video thanks. Been in the mood to build something lately. I dont have much cabinet making experience but really want to build some shelving or something on the lines of that. I've done carpentry but never cabinet making. I have built a few things but never had used the edge banding. Now that i know how from watching this I will definitely use it in the future. Broaden the selection of items to make =)
I used hot melt edge banding on the kitchen cabinets that I built. The edging came off after only a few short years. I'm once again going to rebuild my cabinets but I'm going to use a face frame so that I'll get a more durable finished edge. Kitchen cabinets take a lot of abuse/water and hot melt edge banding won't cut it. At minimum, glue it on like one of the comments suggested. Edge banding is quick but not durable. Don't make the mistake of edge banding the doors. It won't last.
when I do edge banding I use a block plane blade to trim with.. or sometimes a 1-1/2" wide chisel.. BTW you can also iron on unglued edge banding or veneer using regular white or yellow glue. takes a little longer to do but i like it better.. you brush or finger it evenly on the substrate nice and THIN, the heat of the iron will make it ooze out and bubble a bit. thats when it's cooked and time to move the iron along...it really helps to follow along with a wooden block behind the iron..
Some cabinetmakers prefer to use white glue to adhere edgebanding for a longer-lasting edge. Hot melt is easy and fast but it has voids and a limited durability. Otherwise, go with what gives the finish product you desire.
Excellent work here, it's very hard to find sound advice and good videos for the DIY'rs, but you did a wonderful job.
One constructive critical point though, for safety the file should have a handle. They truly can wreak havoc on your wrist and some DIY'r will certainly jam it into theirs without it.

i was always taught to use brown paper on top of the edge band to stop burning. These trimmers are great.
