Also, don't forget that Kenny Delmar's "Senator Claghorn" voice was also the inspiration for Foghorn Leghorn of the Loony Tunes/Merrie Meoldies cartoons as well.
A cartoon may be poorly drawn and/or animated, but can still be entertaining if it's clever. That's what makes Tennessee Tuxedo and Underdog still hold up today-both are quite witty and still make me laugh. Cartoons that don't work are those that are too dull or too silly.
It wasn't even funny when I was five years old. And Tooter the Turtle! Why the face was that about????? 2nd worst cartoon of all time (Crusader Rabbit was the worst)
@KrazyKartoonKid Corection. This was no "classic" That would be something like Th Flintstones or Milton the monster. The Hunter was one of the lamest cartoons of all time. The animation was poor, the voice characterizations were phony the narrative was pathetic. The artwork was atrocious. How can you say this was "classic'? Seriously.
@zapkvr Sometimes the things that make a show classic wouldn't exactly make it good. For example, Scooby Doo is predictable, and Flintstones is boring by today's standards. This show may be drawn like crap, and kind of lame but that's exactly what I like about it. It has that weird adult swim quality. Also American animation will never have this kind of look again.
@KrazyKartoonKid cos they are raised on mediocrity and eye candy - the technical restrictions placed on early productions made them rely on content ....dumb down crap ....and move on to the next "hot" thing -same as music. Ah well ......its called progress i believe - well i dont .
Producer Treadwell Covington was well aware of Kenny Delmar's famous characterization of "Senator Claghorn" on Fred Allen's radio show in the '40s; he wanted to create an animated character for "KING LEONARDO" using that voice, and Delmar agreed. That led to seven years of Kenny creating voices for TTV/Leonardo {Commander McBragg, Colonel Kit Coyote in "Go-Go Gophers", Savior Faire for "Klondike Kat", "THE BEAGLES", et. al.}.
This segment was reran on both The Underdog Show and The Dudley Do-Right Show [and the syndicated version Dudley Do-Right And Friends which Cartoon Network reran twice a week [late Saturday night and early Monday morning] in 1999].

@bigverybadtom - And don't forget Rocky and Bullwinkle - awful animation at times, but a classic nonetheless.

@zapkvr OK, ok, fair enough. Everyone has their own opinion. But you can't say that the King and Odie or Tennessee Tuxedo was lame!
