To be honest, Im not even scared really, cuz Ive heard many strange noises before and the fact that it was just a dream, which I dont beleive in them.

How do you explain the 'miraculous' cure of An's inability to walk without help (that had lasted about 4 years) by her Virgin Mary vision that suddenly gave her back the ability to walk, run, jump and dance without problems? But it is a very useful guide, tho the spelling and translation occasionally gives cause for concern. Salvador Dali is a good example of an unbelieving sybarite who had to be exorcised. People become "possessed" in all cultures not just Christianity. Since the 1960s there has been a huge wave of possessions that has followed the expansion of unbelief. @SpastiCSackZ Wishful thinking has always been popular in human society, however in this age of technology and reason I think it is best to examine the evidence thoroughly before making irrational assumptions such as demonic possession. People used to think that diseases were the work of evil spirits, we now know that they are the result of micro-organisms.
@themongru The knowledge of disease in Western Civilization and lands like China was far more extensive than you claim in your statement that ignorance led to attribution to evil spirits. Epilepsy was well known as a disease to Greek physicians in antiquity. Julius Caesar was epileptic. Even the word is Greek. It's even in the New Testament which in listing the claimed cures by Jesus Christ actually does put forward epilepsy and demonic possession as separate afflictions.
@Porphyrygrampus Even so, epilepsy is only one type of neurological disorder. These discoveries are relatively recent on the timeline of human history. Perhaps the belief in evil spirits was not just the result of ignorance, you do have a point. It may just be superstition.

The doctors would have kept Anneliese alive by using a feeding tube etc. However she was handed over to priests during the last year of her life and did not receive any more medical treatment. She died from starvation and malnutrition. Regardless of whether or not the doctors would have been able to identify the cause of her illness, at least she wouldn't have been starved to death.

I often put possession in inverted commas to imply that it's real cause is unknown. There is the traditional explanation of demons on the one hand and tens of mutually contradictory 'scientific' ones put forward by 'sceptics' on the other. I'm an agnostic. I expect sceptics to bring proof of their claims re Anneliese.

This person grew up with religion in her life and she knows what "demons" are supposed to be afraid of. So when she is "possessed" she acts according to what general knowledge she has of them. combined with a psychological disorder "possession" can seem real to the uneducated man.

Having seen a demonic possession first hand I know that cases like this are truly horrific. All the people calling these things fake, you better hope this doesn't happen to you or your loved ones.
My theory is that whatever is doing this to people, often starves them and dehydrates them so they expire quicker. I notice this 90% of the time. The quicker they die, the less time the authorized person has to bring them back. In the meantime, it keeps multiple entities talking (dialects) as decoys so the priest or whoever does it doesn't actually ex spell the right one at first. Like body doubles for Saddam for example. It's actually very deceptively clever.

Too many people have been influenced by the forger who forged the English Wikipedia article on her, including RequiemEternam in his blurb here. In Germany people are somewhat better informed, as the case happened here. In the trial the defence claimed her death was not linked to the exorcism, but had no cause of death to rely on except the pathologist's report. Now we know the pathologist had no idea about Tegretol. He cd not even have found it in her as the death was caused by its absence. So he relied on her emaciation & dehydration for the cause. But with Tegretol as the hidden prime factor, they were subsidiary. Nor did the Court discuss Tegretol. The judge declared fact priests/parents believed in demons
So it's pretty clear that Anneliese's death was not linked to any rejection of her doctors by exorcists or parents. The strenuous exorcisms with their howling demons were over by end Feb as there were no speaking demons to address. But there was an adult woman who headed in late-May to June to her death for she hadn't been warned about dropping Tegretol. As for the trial judge, he was strongly criticized for mistrial by the German court that investigates abuses by state officials. Why no appeal?
Tegretol was treatment prescribed Annel. by her Würzburg Med Fac docs. As an adult, she had always been responsible for renewing prescriptions and taking it which she did scrupulously and on the advice of her exorcists until about 5-6 weeks before her death. Then she seems to dropped it without telling her parents or exorcists. Had Alt known, he wd've told her to take it. In her weakened state of undernourishment Tegretol deprivation would have killed her fast and easily. Exorcism was irrelevant
The prosecution considered putting Dr Roth on trial after the priests but finally dropped the idea. By that time the real probable cause of her death, Tegretol, was being woken up to. It is likely important politicians prevented the Dr Roth trial as they feared a scandal with repercussions on expanding German pharma exports. By then he'd learned enough about Tegretol to cite it in his defence. Why Tegretol? We know now it can kill if you stop taking it suddenly. Med notes say 'life-threatening'.
The Catholic Church has a Rite of Exorcism and each diocese is supposed to have at least one trained exorcist/priest. According to an interview involving a Catholic priest trained as an exorcist, demonic posession is very rare and before they conduct the rite in a given case, all other possible causes of trouble are ruled-out. Sometimes the rite is repeated over several months before a patient is entirely free of the demon or demons.
As for Alt, his absence did not prevent him being accused of her death, Ridiculous, as if one would accuse a distant vicar because a girl died of anorexia when he wasn't around. About 3 weeks before she died, Fr Alt turned up with a doctor, Dr Roth, to see her. She was by now at home finishing her thesis. She was emaciated but the doctor did not suggest artificial feeding or hospitalization. The irony was the prosecutors scapegoated Alt who had always sent her to see shrinks and neurologists.
On the exorcism level, the vast majority of the exorcisms took place in Sep-Oct75. On 31Oct the demons were expelled. The tapes of that expulsion are here on YT for those interested. @5eurocups2005 Thanks v.much for that. I understand it is a hour-long cassette. Remember there was over sixty of those, and the longest exorcism sessions were 3-4 hours. But it is a very useful guide, tho the spelling and translation occasionally gives cause for concern. A great pity he didn't put in the original German as well, but he seems to suggest one can get it from a man in Cologne for a fee or costs. His tape seems not to be the one here. The doctors would have kept Anneliese alive by using a feeding tube etc. However she was handed over to priests during the last year of her life and did not receive any more medical treatment. She died from starvation and malnutrition. Regardless of whether or not the doctors would have been able to identify the cause of her illness, at least she wouldn't have been starved to death.

I often put possession in inverted commas to imply that it's real cause is unknown. There is the traditional explanation of demons on the one hand and tens of mutually contradictory 'scientific' ones put forward by 'sceptics' on the other. I'm an agnostic. I expect sceptics to bring proof of their claims re Anneliese.

My theory is that whatever is doing this to people, often starves them and dehydrates them so they expire quicker. I notice this 90% of the time. The quicker they die, the less time the authorized person has to bring them back. In the meantime, it keeps multiple entities talking (dialects) as decoys so the priest or whoever does it doesn't actually ex spell the right one at first. Like body doubles for Saddam for example. It's actually very deceptively clever.

@imEmilySmith She was never diagnosed as schizophrenic or mentally ill in her lifetime. Too many people have been influenced by the forger who forged the English Wikipedia article on her, including RequiemEternam in his blurb here. In Germany people are somewhat better informed, as the case happened here. It is less easy to forge a mental record for Germany than in UK or USA Wiki where most people have never heard of the real case but might know "Emily Rose". But that's Hollywood too...

The priests wanted to appeal with new knowledge about Tegretol but the Bishop of Würzburg refused permission & finance for the defence. The coward was afraid of being summoned to Court to explain on oath why he'd lied to the press about not having authorized the exorcism or known about it. In the trial the defence claimed her death was not linked to the exorcism, but had no cause of death to rely on except the pathologist's report. Now we know the pathologist had no idea about Tegretol. He cd not even have found it in her as the death was caused by its absence. So he relied on her emaciation & dehydration for the cause. But with Tegretol as the hidden prime factor, they were subsidiary. Nor did the Court discuss Tegretol. The judge declared fact priests/parents believed in demons

So it's pretty clear that Anneliese's death was not linked to any rejection of her doctors by exorcists or parents. The strenuous exorcisms with their howling demons were over by end Feb as there were no speaking demons to address. But there was an adult woman who headed in late-May to June to her death for she hadn't been warned about dropping Tegretol. As for the trial judge, he was strongly criticized for mistrial by the German court that investigates abuses by state officials. Why no appeal?

Tegretol was treatment prescribed Annel. by her Würzburg Med Fac docs. As an adult, she had always been responsible for renewing prescriptions and taking it which she did scrupulously and on the advice of her exorcists until about 5-6 weeks before her death. Then she seems to dropped it without telling her parents or exorcists. Had Alt known, he wd've told her to take it. In her weakened state of undernourishment Tegretol deprivation would have killed her fast and easily. Exorcism was irrelevant

The prosecution considered putting Dr Roth on trial after the priests but finally dropped the idea. By that time the real probable cause of her death, Tegretol, was being woken up to. It is likely important politicians prevented the Dr Roth trial as they feared a scandal with repercussions on expanding German pharma exports. By then he'd learned enough about Tegretol to cite it in his defence. Why Tegretol? We know now it can kill if you stop taking it suddenly. Med notes say 'life-threatening'.

The Catholic Church has a Rite of Exorcism and each diocese is supposed to have at least one trained exorcist/priest. According to an interview involving a Catholic priest trained as an exorcist, demonic posession is very rare and before they conduct the rite in a given case, all other possible causes of trouble are ruled-out. Sometimes the rite is repeated over several months before a patient is entirely free of the demon or demons.

As for Alt, his absence did not prevent him being accused of her death, Ridiculous, as if one would accuse a distant vicar because a girl died of anorexia when he wasn't around. About 3 weeks before she died, Fr Alt turned up with a doctor, Dr Roth, to see her. She was by now at home finishing her thesis. She was emaciated but the doctor did not suggest artificial feeding or hospitalization. The irony was the prosecutors scapegoated Alt who had always sent her to see shrinks and neurologists.

On the exorcism level, the vast majority of the exorcisms took place in Sep-Oct75. On 31Oct the demons were expelled. The tapes of that expulsion are here on YT for those interested. They came back shortly complaining they wanted to leave but permission was refused from up there. But they were now seemed cowed & far less obstreperous and allowed her to go to Uni to study successfully. Gradually they ceased to speak, totally after 28 Feb 1976. So Father Alt left her & returned to his busy parish.

The whole huge paragraph on her supposedly having a mental record is a footnoteless invention by an anonymous forger of history. It is completely out of line with German Wiki and the real sources as I've pointed out here in detail. She was never in a mental hospital but in a TB sanatorium in the Alps with tuberculosis.
