@Oliveah31587 A Staff is a pitbull but it was just bred for look and conformation instead of gameness and drive...a real dog man would never breed based on the dogs look ,only it's drive and determination were factors in pitbull breeding. today it's all backwards.
@lsiwankiw The APBT is not a Staffy it is a combination of Irish, Scottish and English fighting dogs. The Staffy came much later as a show dog. They are related but the staffy was destroyed as a breed in the UK when they bred for type rather than performance. Look at the old type Staffies they are nothing like the barrel chested dogs of today.

@Defwildwolves American Pit Bull Terriers are recognized in the UKC and the ADBA. American Staffordshire Terriers are recognized in the AKC. Both breeds come from the same history and, to this day, there are dogs dual registered as APBTs in the UKC and AmStaffs in the AKC.
@lsiwankiw staffordshire is different from apbt. When the british irish migrated to America they brought their Bull and terrier dogs with them, that was in the 1800s. So the bull and terrier thats was left in UK was the modern Stafforshire terrier of uk. While the bull and terrier that was broungt in america was selectively breed to life in the Farm and the apbt was developed. It took 100years of selective breeding!

no offense but alot of those pictures look like apbt more then american bull dogs. theyre not as stocky and faces are not as scrunched up. a few of them are and alot of then are. they're taller leaner and look more like apbt.
I found something that validates my arguement on history. Those pics of original Bulldogs look exactly like american bulldogs not pitbulls. Just wish that someone would specify that the apbt is considered a english white terrier crossed with the original bulldog and not a direct descendent. My american bulldog scott type looks exactly like the original bulldog.

This is just beautiful! The music and images pull at my heart and brings tears to my eyes. Our pit, Zero is just gorgeous...pure black with scary black eyes.....and the sweetest personality....EVER! If I'm not feeling well and lying in bed, Zero must be there snuggled up next to me. He the biggest snuggler!!! We have had Zero since he was 6 weeks old.....we raised him to be such a sweetie. People just don't understand pitbulls. It's how you raise them. They are wonderful dogs!
just reading some other comments..i have a 1 year old pit..hes great with cats, jumps on kids, great with little dogs..but not with dogs near his size or bigger.. i dont know what his deal is, but he just wants to eat them... i cant get him to quit being aggro with big dogs. i tried so socialize him as much as possible when he was a pup but nothings changed....
@emsevas TOTALLY normal for pit bulls. let me guess...its only with boys? or is it all adult dogs his size or bigger? Pit bulls have a dominance thing goin on and that coupled with their being genetically predisposed to animal aggression- it can cause problems...but many times it can be managed. if your adult male pit bull has problems with dogs his size DO NOT take him to the dog park! Regardless of who starts the fight, your dog will be blamed because its a pit bull.
@emsevas You cant be naive about what your dog will and wont do. And its not worth risking someone else's dog's life or your own dogs life! My suggestion is to get him use to a muzzle and home. Reward him when he shows interest in the muzzle, this way he associates the muzzle with praise-not punishment. Then take him to the dog park or around other dogs but keep him leashed. When he acts aggressive- jerk his leash swiftly to correct him. Eventually he is going to get the idea that its a no no.

Love the breed, have some, so loving and faithful, shame on anyone in support of BSL. So much history behind this animal it is truly incredible. Their temperament is the highest for just about any breed. Unfortunately there are so many that are naive. some of the paintings here were actually of the original english bull-baiting dog which is said to have had an undershot jaw. That is where todays bulldogs and boxers get this trait from, although it is much more exaggerated in these modern breeds. But I never see pit bulls with an undershot jaw, my guess is that the APBT is the Staffordshire Bull Terrier bred into a larger and more athletic dog.

great video ...the modern pitbull is a very close decendant to these dogs...close enough to be classed as the same ...they have been mixed up as much as humans but still have the great characteristics of the breed....so do humans. mix humans types or pitbull/bulldog types all you want ...it is the enviorment that matters .....loved,exercised and provided for , they will all be great.

@carnypimp Actually they have found traces of American Pit Bull Terriers before the Bull Terrier . At that time they were called the 1/2 & 1/2 , the Bull and Terrier, the Yankiee terrier/Yankee Bull Terrier, the pitdog and a few more I can't remeber on the top of my head. You go for a walk & can't completely control the dog bcus the rope or chain hurts ur hands- you wear gloves & u have complete control- Now u can wrap the leash around ur wrist several times . If you can't control the breed it isn't the dogs fault - it is the owner who didn't do research & learn this Drive & Strength . Prevention 2....

WHen I walk Kayne ( my male) and I see another human w/ a dog walking towards me- I cross the street & avoid all fights. Yes my dog has canine aggression- he is an APBT. It is my job to make sure nothing ever happens to him or anybody else, I am the Human . Your dog has aggression issues that should & can be fixed - but u laugh at it instead .

@MzTexasRaised Yeah that is way too young to go home it takes 7weeks at least. I can't describe in a video go to the library read bookS on dog training and it will take time. Try to walk your dog the way I did mine or spend about $20 on a real halti walk your dog past others dogs. The halti does controll them they have no choice but to calm down or they wont move. is does work on any breed even an excited Jack Russel.

dog fighting was braught about by white men with money. Projects had nothing to do with it until the 80s I'd guess rednecks and hill billies participate just as much if not more in dog fighting. The old stain of bulldog was starting to lose gameness in the mid-nineteenth century, and terriers were crossed into them to make them game.

I found something that validates my arguement on history. Those pics of original Bulldogs look exactly like american bulldogs not pitbulls. Just wish that someone would specify that the apbt is considered a english white terrier crossed with the original bulldog and not a direct descendent. My american bulldog scott type looks exactly like the original bulldog.

@Oliveah31587 That is why we will never come to a common agreement. APBT has terrier in it. The American Bulldog has no terrier what so ever in it. My point the pitbull is a cross therefore not a direct descendent.

This is just beautiful! The music and images pull at my heart and brings tears to my eyes. Our pit, Zero is just gorgeous...pure black with scary black eyes.....and the sweetest personality....EVER! If I'm not feeling well and lying in bed, Zero must be there snuggled up next to me. He the biggest snuggler!!! We have had Zero since he was 6 weeks old.....we raised him to be such a sweetie. People just don't understand pitbulls. It's how you raise them. They are wonderful dogs!

just reading some other comments..i have a 1 year old pit..hes great with cats, jumps on kids, great with little dogs..but not with dogs near his size or bigger.. i dont know what his deal is, but he just wants to eat them... i cant get him to quit being aggro with big dogs. i tried so socialize him as much as possible when he was a pup but nothings changed....

@emsevas TOTALLY normal for pit bulls. let me guess...its only with boys? or is it all adult dogs his size or bigger? Pit bulls have a dominance thing goin on and that coupled with their being genetically predisposed to animal aggression- it can cause problems...but many times it can be managed. if your adult male pit bull has problems with dogs his size DO NOT take him to the dog park! Regardless of who starts the fight, your dog will be blamed because its a pit bull.

@emsevas You cant be naive about what your dog will and wont do. And its not worth risking someone else's dog's life or your own dogs life! My suggestion is to get him use to a muzzle and home. Reward him when he shows interest in the muzzle, this way he associates the muzzle with praise-not punishment. Then take him to the dog park or around other dogs but keep him leashed. When he acts aggressive- jerk his leash swiftly to correct him. Eventually he is going to get the idea that its a no no.

Love the breed, have some, so loving and faithful, shame on anyone in support of BSL. So much history behind this animal it is truly incredible. Their temperament is the highest for just about any breed. Unfortunately there are so many that are naive. Don't move to Denver, CO, or don't move to Sterling Heights, MI very discriminatory to the breed. Thanks for the video! Excellent!

some of the paintings here were actually of the original english bull-baiting dog which is said to have had an undershot jaw. That is where todays bulldogs and boxers get this trait from, although it is much more exaggerated in these modern breeds. But I never see pit bulls with an undershot jaw, my guess is that the APBT is the Staffordshire Bull Terrier bred into a larger and more athletic dog.

@Oliveah31587 No I don't breed myself but I know pleanty of ppl who do. Maybe someday I will. Anyways from what I've been told the only way you can prove a pitbull is game is through the pit. Rolls are what they call it when they test young dogs.

great video ...the modern pitbull is a very close decendant to these dogs...close enough to be classed as the same ...they have been mixed up as much as humans but still have the great characteristics of the breed....so do humans. mix humans types or pitbull/bulldog types all you want ...it is the enviorment that matters .....loved,exercised and provided for , they will all be great.

At that time they were called the 1/2 & 1/2 , the Bull and Terrier, the Yankiee terrier/Yankee Bull Terrier, the pitdog and a few more I can't remeber on the top of my head. That woman has done a lot of postive things for all Bully Breeds- how dare you ! What are you doing to save the Bully Breeds but Defame somebody of their name. @carnypimp A owner can do prevent dog bites . You have to think 2 steps before the dog. Ex. You go for a walk & can't completely control the dog bcus the rope or chain hurts ur hands- you wear gloves & u have complete control- Now u can wrap the leash around ur wrist several times . If you can't control the breed it isn't the dogs fault - it is the owner who didn't do research & learn this Drive & Strength . Prevention 2....

WHen I walk Kayne ( my male) and I see another human w/ a dog walking towards me- I cross the street & avoid all fights. Yes my dog has canine aggression- he is an APBT. It is my job to make sure nothing ever happens to him or anybody else, I am the Human . Your dog has aggression issues that should & can be fixed - but u laugh at it instead .

When a child or adult, dog approaches my dogs kennel my dog attacks but when he is in the house or outside he will lick there hand. Since I have been such a asshole. I guess it would only be right to make a video of well balanced full blooded APBT to show if taught right they are not dog aggressive. My friend has a Mayfeild pit that wouldn't fight if you was to hold a gun to its head. I will post in 2 months.

@carnypimp Not all APBTs are A/A . My Lily has no kind of animal aggression in her & she never had to be trained, not to be . Kayne on the other hand was saved from a fighter ( they had track records of previous fights ) he was given to me @ 4wks old .Way too early to be away from his mother . He is Completely stranger friendly, but still has that Canine Aggr drive . They call the dogs who don't fight, Curs - this isn't anything uncommon or impossible. R u going to show the training process?

@MzTexasRaised Yeah that is way too young to go home it takes 7weeks at least. I can't describe in a video go to the library read bookS on dog training and it will take time. Try to walk your dog the way I did mine or spend about $20 on a real halti walk your dog past others dogs. The halti does controll them they have no choice but to calm down or they wont move. is does work on any breed even an excited Jack Russel.

@carnypimp I am talking about Game dogs,too ! Colby/ Mayfield all of them have had Cur dogs . Every APBT is different just like Humans , there isn't 1 dog that is just like another . Even Cloning, doesn't make the dog have the same personalities . I know Kayne's A/A can be Trained or Calmed down, but it isn't that I don't trust my dog- I don't trust theirs . My dog is fine, as long as the other dog doesn't Snap/Growl or act Passive .

@MzTexasRaised That bull shit is the reason my dog is on the BSL and possibly most likely yours too. My dog damn near got into a fight with the same pitbull two years in a row at our festival. The owner always drives around with his windows down and when his dog sees mine it jumps out and tries to challenge my dog and my dog will not back down and should not have to. Luckly I have knowledge of dog behavior and get in the middle. if I where irresponsible I would let them tear each other up.

Ukraine alone, has over 88 Breeds Banned and/or Restricted - Labs/ livestock dogs/ Great Danes & Greyhounds are on this list. People own those Breeds & support BSL, not knowing if they continue to support BSL their dog,too will be picked up & murdered- just for being a specific breed.

dog fighting was braught about by white men with money. Projects had nothing to do with it until the 80s I'd guess rednecks and hill billies participate just as much if not more in dog fighting. Its never been a race related issue that's just something bigots say to come up with an answer for why it happens. It happens in inner cities but it also is going on in suburban middle class neighborhoods. In basements. Don't point the finger if you aren't educated enough to place the blame.

You are very right! Actually statics show that the larger percentage of people that fight dogs are Caucasian males between the ages of 17-45. But at a dog fight the populous ranges every where from white collar business men to black thugs, to Latino house wives. But to me race doesn't matter. They are bull and terrier dogs-- a mixture of the old-line bulldogs and some sort of terrier.
The bull terrier is a fancy version derived from bull and terriers.
A Boston terrier is a small bull and terrier crossed with French bulldogs.
A pit bull is a very similar dog to the original bull and terrier type, as is the Staffie.

It could be argued that If anything the English bull terrier is the first descendent of the Bull and terrier ;)

The Hinks's bull terrier (and I find this to be the best term for them) started out as a cross between the ratting and pet English white terrier and the bulldog. It was meant to be a gentlemen's pet and show dog. The others were predominantly fighting and catch dogs. The old stain of bulldog was starting to lose gameness in the mid-nineteenth century, and terriers were crossed into them to make them game.

For me they are such an intresting breed to own...i have owned all three breeds at some time or another..The APBT and the SBT i have owned in the past ! But the EBT is what i am more known for ;)
