We get half way down the street, then shit hits the fan. I flew right by a cop doing almost 80 on a busy street. I managed to hide my self from the cop.

honestly, i like the older japenese stuff. hence the name. however, im a muscle car guy at heart. id rather buy the cheap little honda and acura, and still make 600 horse, or get a cheap rustbucket of a muscle car, and drop in a big v8. id never go for the skylines, or the m3's, because you would need to pour too much money in it to only use it on a track.

The 1970 road runners are actually a couple hundred pounds lighter than a GTR....Hell, my '73 Plymouth Fury Hartopd coupe (big boat of a car) weighs about the same as a GTR. I'm willing to bet if this road runner was set up for road courses, it could give the GTR a run for its money there too.

I've seen a Plymouth Duster with a stroked 340 v8 (750 horsepower, 612 ft-lbs of torque) do massive wheelstands and run 9.3 @ over 140 mph all day long with a manual transmission, NATURALLY ASPIRATED.

@Vitoman808 Old muscle cars aren't overpriced for the performance you get out of them....half of these old muscle cars have 500+ cubic inch big block crate engines or twin turbos, with modern suspension, brakes and everything, excellent track, drag or drift cars while maintaining the nostalgia of being a classic muscle car. These can cost anywhere from $1,000 to 100,000, maybe even more, but the extremely powerful/expensive ones run with supercars, they're actually cheap, even for you.

I'll have you know that more displacement means more torque, and doesn't always mean bad fuel economy, and as anyone with half a brain knows, torque wins races. Winning a race is an achievement. I'm not sure what I said in the comment that you replied to, but i've got a '73 Fury III hardtop coupe myself, rebuilding the 400 big block with keith black 9 to 1 aluminum pistons, victor jr. intake with a double pumper, double roller timing chains, and either cnc ported stock heads or aluminum heads. Either way i'd like to see 11's, it weighs like 3,900 without me in it though lol. It's got the same stroke as a 318 btw, it'll rev quick.

There's plenty of videos on YouTube of muscle cars that kill pretty much anything on road courses....there's an early 70's challenger, home-built, that beats ferraris, mustangs, pretty much anything, while running with a mild street tune. That challenger weighs about the same as this road runner. You act like these cars cant turn lol
go back and look at the "classic" Japanese cars from the 60's and 70's and you will understand why ricers hate muscle cars. Power aside, they had no style, no artistic creativity.

@tangouniform22 This car isn't a Dodge Charger, it's a 1970 Plymouth Road Runner, and it doesn't matter if "there are cars that will stand it ground against that", this car is one of the coolest vehicles i've ever seen. It's got the same engine that's in my car (400 cubic inch mopar big block - 6.6 liter v8) except with a different crankshaft for more displacement and a centrifugal supercharger on low boost.

Torque is what actually makes the car move...horsepower is just the amount of work done over a period of time. What good does horsepower per liter do if the car with the better horsepower per liter still loses?

@bloodhoun138 The place you might be talking about is in Quartzsite, Arizona. Its a junkyard/dealer. Been there once and there are a bunch of old cars, some I never heard of. And he's got a few restored cars too. The only bad thing is, he's kinda pricey. But if you can negotiate, and you got the money, you can probably get a good deal.

Incidentally, it was great to see a '69 Road Runner featured prominently in the SF TV series "Jericho."
The car was driven by the hero of the show, played by Skeet Ulrich.
As far as I could tell it was a a 2-door hardtop model without the B pillar. Very sleek looking, with a long, smooth silhouette.

So, I was sitting at the light in my runner, waiting on for green. Suddenly, this kid pull up next to me in his daddy's GTR. He kept revving his engine, and looking at me. So, I said, well I am getting my car taken away (cause of grades), so I said fuck it. Once green struck, it was on. I've never felt that much adreanline in my life. We get half way down the street, then shit hits the fan. I flew right by a cop doing almost 80 on a busy street. I managed to hide my self from the cop.

Oh and I watched the ep of Rides with this car on it the other day is why I looked it up.. It's a freaking symphony on wheels. People that think it won't corner simply haven't been paying attention. honestly, i like the older japenese stuff. hence the name. however, im a muscle car guy at heart. id rather buy the cheap little honda and acura, and still make 600 horse, or get a cheap rustbucket of a muscle car, and drop in a big v8. id never go for the skylines, or the m3's, because you would need to pour too much money in it to only use it on a track.

Modern American cars will do just as well if not better than much of the JDM competition, granted it took us a while to catch up but we have and in a big way. That is why American cars are holding records at the nurburgring.(there are a few faster but good luck getting one street legal in the states) one that should make you particularly happy is the viper acr at 7min 22 sec. mopar ftw

The 1970 road runners are actually a couple hundred pounds lighter than a GTR....Hell, my '73 Plymouth Fury Hartopd coupe (big boat of a car) weighs about the same as a GTR. Any performance oriented American v8 since the early 1960's has left the factory with at LEAST 300+ foot-pounds of torque...that's without turbochargers, superchargers or nitrous. @Vitoman808 Old muscle cars aren't overpriced for the performance you get out of them....half of these old muscle cars have 500+ cubic inch big block crate engines or twin turbos, with modern suspension, brakes and everything, excellent track, drag or drift cars while maintaining the nostalgia of being a classic muscle car. These can cost anywhere from $1,000 to 100,000, maybe even more, but the extremely powerful/expensive ones run with supercars, they're actually cheap, even for you.

I'm not sure what I said in the comment that you replied to, but i've got a '73 Fury III hardtop coupe myself, rebuilding the 400 big block with keith black 9 to 1 aluminum pistons, victor jr. intake with a double pumper, double roller timing chains, and either cnc ported stock heads or aluminum heads. Either way i'd like to see 11's, it weighs like 3,900 without me in it though lol. It's got the same stroke as a 318 btw, it'll rev quick.

There's plenty of videos on YouTube of muscle cars that kill pretty much anything on road courses....there's an early 70's challenger, home-built, that beats ferraris, mustangs, pretty much anything, while running with a mild street tune. That challenger weighs about the same as this road runner. You act like these cars cant turn lol

@myg0tBUTTPLUG Umm... quality wise asian cars are much better. While these "muscle" cars are better in performance, they break down a lot more and are made to break down to be replaced, yet they still are more on the price tag. Oh and buddy, all cars are fast.

My point being that the mustang you watched on top gear was a 4.6 liter fill-in engine until Ford released the 5.0. BTW, how much do those exiges cost? I can get a new mustang GT for under $30k with brembos, and the mustangs stock suspension has come a long way in the last few years, just saying, before you go making american car cornering jokes, they pull damn near a G on the skid pad and do 170..

@tangouniform22 This car isn't a Dodge Charger, it's a 1970 Plymouth Road Runner, and it doesn't matter if "there are cars that will stand it ground against that", this car is one of the coolest vehicles i've ever seen. It's got the same engine that's in my car (400 cubic inch mopar big block - 6.6 liter v8) except with a different crankshaft for more displacement and a centrifugal supercharger on low boost.

@lobzdik Horsepower per liter isn't nearly as important or amazing as it's cracked up to be. What about torque per liter? Torque is what actually makes the car move...horsepower is just the amount of work done over a period of time. What good does horsepower per liter do if the car with the better horsepower per liter still loses?

@DeAdiSSu3 still loses what? who compares cars with engines 7.0L V8s to 2.0L I4s? The point is that one engine, is better then the other. In day to day life and non-race cars, with comparable engines, the well made cars wins. In races, there are classes, where the well built engines also win. By the way c6 z06 - 58ftlb/l, s2000 80ftlb/l. I'm not hating on any cars, I happen to actually love cars from all eras and nations, but cannot stand people that are close minded and hateful

@bloodhoun138 The place you might be talking about is in Quartzsite, Arizona. Its a junkyard/dealer. Been there once and there are a bunch of old cars, some I never heard of. And he's got a few restored cars too. The only bad thing is, he's kinda pricey. But if you can negotiate, and you got the money, you can probably get a good deal.
