I hope he does not sniffs on the corks he presents to people...besides, "the smelling" of the cork its an ancient tail, only by looking at the cork you can say how was the bottle stored, which actually can say a lot from the place you are visiting. Without smelling the cork and right after taking it off,you will sense the message of the aromas and you can say many things about the wine.The actual smell of the cork wont tell you anything. You will only sense alcohol,cork and mixed aromas.
