I'm not a Sikh, but I have the utmost respect for Sikhism and especially your Guru Gobind Singh. His life was amazing, there was no one else who fought so bravely for freedom at that time anywhere on earth. Peace!
i m a hindu....but after knowing the history of sikh...i have the greatest respects for tthe khalsa......and when i m upset or stressed i just watched the picture of guru govindsinghjee...and next second i m overflowing with power and imotions cant explain...
jsderby, I can't seem to find a video on Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji. There is a video on each Guru Ji besides our beloved Ninth Guru. I humbly request that the video be made for I find them to be very inspirational and eye opening. Thank you. Wahe Guru Ji Ka Khalsa, Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh.
@Youkickmydog1988 It has been a while since this video was made, but If im not mistaken it sounds like Molossus by Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard from Batman Begins (OST)
As a Hindu I admire the Sikhs as they protected us from the mughals. Hinduism and Sikhism the two greatest religions, Im so proud that these two religions were born in India!! Jai Hind!!!
I am indebted to Guru Gobind Singh, all Singh,Singhniyan, children,Guru Gobind Singh's children who sacrificed their families, children, their homes and lives so that we the desecendents of sikhs could have freedom to practice our faith, specially being a female I think I am lucky that Iam born in a sikh family
@TheImpressionable You have lived up to your name, been influenced by somebody. I must correct you, the Sikh is first a Saint and if need be he will surely take up arms. When there is injustice all around you, sometimes you need to fight tyrannical rulers. The same thing happened during the time of the mougals, Sikhs were hunted to almost extinction; what would a sane man do in that situation, it may be that by defending himself may look to others as violent, but you'd be wrong.
@TheImpressionable Even though my religion had a one of the biggest wars in our history doesn't mean we are just bloodthirsty and violent. We focus on other things like our 10 gurus and Guru Grunt Sab Ji (I think I spelled it wrong) our prayers and our Gurduwaras ( temples). We only did the war to defend our country.
@TheImpressionable no were not how are we for years our religon has been protecting india from the mugal empire and protected hindus and they give us 84 if anyones blood thirsty its pakistan!
After living in the ashram of the line of Yogi Bhajan and kundalini yoga in México, 30 years ago, I became a sikh, I never learned gurmukhi as there were no gurmukhi teachers but I practiced what I could, this made miracles in my life, I went to India and had big expectations about the sikhs: but no vegetarianism, even drank alcohol! and were not Khalsas! women cut their under arms hair! Felt BAD! now I have no more expectations about indian sikhs, just love & I continue doing as I can.
While I understand what you are saying about "Indian Sikhs" the same could be said for many Sikhs around the globe, I think it is a case of diamond in the dirt, excuse the expression, I don't mean those who do not fully practice Sikhi are bad/dirty but there are those diamonds who still practice Sikhi the way Guru Ji taught. Be that in India or anywhere else in the world. They just need to be found. Bhul Chuk Muaaf.
i agree not that many Sikhs focus on God but mostly on gurus. yes we should thank the gurus and what they said but they wanted us to see that God is control so don't thank me thank God for what he said for the great things they said came from God.
@sandhsukh I do not think that anybody here is saying that we should not focus on God, that was the aim of the Gurus. We do not worship the gurus per say, we respect them and will protect them, listen to them and follow them, but we worship and remember the name of the one, almighty akaal purakh. But it has to be said, when one attains a state of brahm-giyani, then there is no difference between them and god.
@hidearCellofGod Hi - I am a UK Sikh and have only been to India when I was 3. I went again two years ago at the age of 28 and my dad knew that when we come back that we would be kind of shattered. I was as upset as you and the reason is because we set the standards of current Sikhs against those of Guru's time and Sikh empire. However this had made me stronger as we should strive to be the best instead of looking at what others are not doing since we should be an example ourselves.
