Partys Fall so good on Tinderbox!! The Tiderbox album deserves credit for creating this threatening, nearly frightening feeling. just like the front cover..
I love all the alterna new wave bands from the 80's, but as I look back, I realize they all just wanted to be David Bowie and Roxy Music. But hey, if you have to have influences, you can't go wrong with those two.
The Tinderbox tour was my first ever Siouxsie and the Banshees show (supported by Love and Rockets!) and while Tinderbox wasn't my favorite record at the time (I felt they had peaked with Hyæna) it has taken it's place alongside their very best for me as the decades have past.
This was a song from the first album I'd ever bought by Siouxsie and the Banshees, I bought it on a whim, just to see who they were, I'd never heard of em till that day. Best thing I ever did was take a chance on a band I'd never heard of, I wore this album out, among others published by Siouxsie. man this brings back memories, they were bad times, I only remember the good times when I hear this though. Good ass post, thanks.
thought this album was crap at the time, but it's grown on me over the years. Actually, did Siouxsie ever do a really bad album?? I don't think she knows how!!
tinderobx is th ebest album, I am puk rock and I now what I am saying we ar ethe authority evryone wants to be like us wwe are punk rock, we defined eevrythig that stands today and will always stand, pure energy of the heart just listen kiddo
Are you kidding?! Tinder Box was brilliant (with the exception of Cities in Dust). Her voice was amazing the music was tribal witchcraft.....and even all of the B-sides were great. Whether people want to believe it or not...this album was a pinnacle for the Banshees. Crap after that.!
@Hermes4Apollo Why just cause Cities got the air play ??? Cities is just as good as Cannons & Partys fall or Candyman They are all in the same mystical realm
I know many of my friends back then didn't Care for Tinder Box and The Cities in Dust single...But I still think Tinder Box was one of their best albums! Remember This Unrest? Just Brilliant! Love this song Thanks for posting! Glad rag sighs, Maybe your alone! You can even hear a bit of Spellbound and Isreal in this song!
the candy man single was genius of course. i remember going to that show in 87 and all these girls were in all black and siouxsie came out in a red mini dress. at that time mini skirts were passe and mini dresses didnt come into vogue till the early nineties.
Siouxsie Sioux isn't really down with trends or what's in style. She is a trend setter and not a trend follower! I've always beaten to a different drum all my life. I guess that's why I am so attracted to her and her music!
If they didn`t care for it it is only because they didn`t really listen to it, it is an excellent album & my tastes range from Judas Priest, Scorpions, Iron Maiden , Peter Murphy, The Cure , The Pretenders. The Clash, Cheap Trick , Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder,,,,,, anyways great music stands out & saongs such as Cannons, Cities in dust & Party`s fall stand out
@LordGandor3 Like minds. I range from Metallica to Buddy Holly, to Ray Charles, to Roy Acuff Sr. If it's good, I'll listen. I can't, however, stop going back to bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees and Love and Rockets. Tinderbox is one of my favorites.
@MARKSVIGIL this unrest might just be one of my favorite siouxsie songs, slightly ironic in pretense of your truthful statement about a lot of people not caring for the albums too much, but I always tended to like a lot of the lesser like SaTB songs..
The guitar on the whole album is simply breathtaking - and this song in particular. 92 degrees too. Brilliant

Next to Hyaena, Tinderbox was one of their best efforts. The songwriting, performance, production all came together on Tinderbox.

It's their finest output ever IMO, dark and ethereal.
