Your explanation of entrapment as a legal term is incorrect. If a person is ready and willing to break the law it is not entrapment. As long as the bait offers an opportunity and nothing more it is perfectly legal. All of these men had their day in court. If the arrest was handled wrong then the defense attorneys had opportunity to address it. I do agree that this program is in poor taste but then again we don’t all share the same appetite.

The show is entertaining I watch it. The predators use modern mediums to access the minors the show uses modern mediums to publicse their actions and they get caught out along the way. This is progress I like it. Oh and if they make money along the way good luck to them they do the work they should get paid :D

I think people find it entertaining for the same reason cops is entertaining. We enjoy seeing people get what they deserve. It's nice to see some justice taking place.
(And let's face it, it can be kind of funny when the guys try to make up excuses.

It's not entrapment, entrapment is when a person commits a crime they otherwise would not have committed because they are forced to or given the opportunity by someone in law enforcement. This law doesn't count sting operations as entrapment. These people are caught in sting operations committing a crime they would have committed anyway.

No one is trying to protect their children by watching To Catch A Predator, nice straw man. Though our motivation to watch won't protect any children, we inadvertently help many children because high ratings help keep the show on the air. Also, I could just as easily assume you are just going against the grain of a viewership of an already popular series in order to get your own ratings. Because I refuse to believe you are actually that dumb. You seem smart when you aren't making stupid points.

They went nearly 4 episodes without asking for compensation, that is incredible! and you piss and moan about the fact that they finally asked for money. wtf. Secondly the entrapment thing is bs. We don't get to see the full transcripts, but the courts will. Don't be a dumbass. Of course NBC is trying to get ratings, they are a business. The show is popular so they keep it going, and the people get what they want.

I don't agree. Dateline, following the lead of the police, use chat records of child molesters soliciting minors for sex, who later show up to follow through.
They are not innocent and there is nothing wrong with "watching it". It does not make you a better person when you turn your head to what goes wrong on Earth.
The "full transcripts" is a justification to ignore and deny what they do reveal reading from the chat logs. Old dudes have no business talking to teens online. None.

There is NO entrapment when a person is ready and willing to break the law and a government agent merely provide what appears to be an opportunity for the person to commit the crime.

Actually, if you go on the Perverted Justice website you can read the full, uncensored transcripts (which go for pages, upon pages, upon PAGES).
The reason for putting it on TV was (besides rating, of course) was to prove a point. I mean- what's more to heart? Showing the guys getting busted and showing the process, or showing the guys in prison after the fact (similar to Lock-Up RAW).

They could run the series in every city in America for the next ten years and they'd always be getting dozens of men showing up... If you hold a sign up on the Internet that says "FREE ATTRACTIVE GIRLS WANTING TO SCREW YOU AT THIS ADDRESS AND TIME" people are always going to come running... that's a no-brainer. I agree you have a point. The predators themselves are brainy lured on purpose just so that the show can make money. Not only that, the transcripts could prove this as well. On the other hand, I'm surprised some guys actually drove 4 hours to see the decoys...so either way it could be a good or bad.

You are mistaken on this one. Entrapment can only occur, when a law enforcement officer convinces one to commit a crime in which one would have never engaged in, on ones own. Providing an opportunity for one to commit a crime is not entrapment.

To Catch a Predator-Murphy Texas- 23 arrested, The D.A refused to press charges based on evidence provided by Perverted Justice. One person who was going to be arrested, put a gun to his head and puled the trigger, one person was prosecuted in a different county because he used his computer in that particular county.

This guy is smart. But who cares if they are tricked. How is it EVER a mistake? They show up. They think they are going to fuck a child. Guilty period. Even if they are getting ratings by having us watch people getting busted then that's ok. The motive is irrelevant If it prevents someone watching to think oh shit i might get caught. I am a 20 year old male, I go through all the motions to end up on this show. As I walk up to the door with condoms and various other things to make the biggest mistake of my life. A realization strikes me, something I knew all along. That this is wrong, I then decide that it would be rude to just leave. I'll only go in and talk to her that's it. Then I'll leave and never come back.
