If you realize how huge was microsoft marketing campain about Vista 3D, with was basicly pimped alt + tab function. and ubuntu used to do most of this amazing stuff back there already!
@radsportz39 you slow down your cube spin! No, but really. I want it to be somewhat functional as well. Can't be all effects mate. Go watch a move or something. Heard Inception got a lot of special effects.
If you like to play commercial games then I'm afraid that Linux is not anything for you. I'm currently using Windows 7. When they day comes that games are distributed to LInux as well. Then Windows can say goodbye.
A very good game right now for Linux is Heroes of Newerth! It's a DotA replication with a lot of improvements.
@wconstantine0 Wine does make it quite easy to run comercial windows games etc in ubuntu, you just have to make sure your computer is up to date with hardware :)
@GudGurus Well I've dualbooted Linux before when I played World of Warcraft. The difference in performance was huge. If games were developed for Linux then I'm sure the performance would have been better than Windows even. But as it is right now, I don't recommend using Linux for gaming with Windows proprietary games.
Actually it is... well not 9 years old, but the foundation is based on it, the only difference is that over 10 million users use it. And a small group focus on improving it by using today's technology on editing programs.
It's better, it doesn't simultaniously crash, give blue screens, you don't have to pay for it, if you start up, and see the desktop, it's actually done loading, when you installed software you don't have to restart your computer, etc, etc, etc. So... it's WAY better.
I think the artist's name is NATOarts or something. I dunno. I have forgotten. Try looking in the comments, the name of the song should have been posted earlier.
Well there's no problem, I'm forced also to work use wubi, because of certain programs that won't run on Linux, and use to much memory on emulated OS. But in a few years all games all have a Linux version ;).

Don't get defensive, I use SuSE/KDE 4.2 myself. My issue is the sheer number of applications still in a 0.x stage after 3, 4 or 5 years of "development". I'd rather the community focus on core assets for a few years, rather than dancing windows which ultimately don't do anything for productivity.
Nice video, impressive stuff. The question is, why? That's a lot of processing (and development) power spent on visual effects when what's needed are more stable applications on Linux.

These effects are useless BUT they draw more attention to linux.
They were most likely done by volunteers for their own personal amusement? - and those developpers aren't related to the packages in question.
Nothing to stop commercial software vendors porting professional apps to linux, but I guess it's a chicken/egg situation with the small userbase.
