  • R.E.M and some grotty grunge guy. yeah yeah yeah

  • Eddie Vedder runied it.

  • Billy Fucking Berry!

  • i love this group and his voice is so beautiful

  • genial eddie y bill!!!!

  • that's eddie vedder isn't it? nice though, you can see the music they have in their souls, just epic.

  • Stipes voice is shot.

  • Comment removed

  • @kenjames64 maybe...but stipe still sucks now

  • Comment removed

  • @kenjames64 sorry if old man voice is your thing. You really should look up the word "intonation". Maybe then we can talk. Oh, and how about those out of tune backing vocals? lovely

  • this band was totally deserving a place in the R&RHOF ... such hero's of mine !

  • First year of eligibility, and there are many reasons for that!

  • I'm a Rush head. They're three of the best musicians ever to grace the stage, and Neil Peart's lyrics are fantastic. I'm just not sure Rush is rock, or exactly what Rush is, for that matter. Maybe there needs to be a separate one-member Rush Hall of Fame.

    OTOH...uh, Kiss? Uh...okay, I don't get it. Why?

  • @voronwae Kiss, yes. It's all about "Strutter," "Cold Gin" and "Detroit Rock City." An entire world of spectacle was created by those guys that influenced everyone from Marilyn Manson to Motley Crue. But Rush? I dunno. It's all so sterile and perfect. I loved them when I was in 6th grade and "All the World's A Stage" came out, but as an adult, I don't hear it.

  • Poor Andy Kaufman. Did anyone really know the true Andy?

  • That's what makes it so perfect only Andy knows, and that's how he wanted it. Rest in peace Tony Clifton.

  • Cheap Trick needs to make it before anyone else.

  • my names andi..

  • lol rem> aerosmith, cheap trick

  • @killmekilmehateme666 sorry i like rem alot best best group alive is aerosmith

  • jesus christ ~ no aerosmith, kiss nor cheap trick to the rnr hall of fame? fuck you indianajo75 - cheap trick gave everything to rem, pearl jam and nirvana. they are sorely denied.

  • Hell yeah, Cheap Trick are awesome.

I'm sad that CT and RUSH aren't in the R&R Hall, it's funny

on Neil Pearts website he said on one of his articles "And isnt it funny that by then the band will have been represented in the Motorcycling Hall of Fame, the Hockey Hall of Fame, the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, the Songwriting Hall of Fame, and the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame—but not yet in the official rock pantheon? Passing strange . . "

  • 4:25 HAHAHAH Stipe immitating Vedder. hahahaha. can't get enough of Stipe

and is it just me, or did REM make a mistake towards the end?

  • Wow man on the moon featuring Eddie

    Vedder!!!!! Terrific!!

  • Stipes...you're an animal...and we love you. LOL Rock it, SweetyBro!!!

  • Nice to see Bill Berry with them

  • Andy Kaufman forever!!!!!!!!!

  • andy kaufman was howard stern hero

  • Great to see Bill Berry back on the drums. Even if it was just for one night.

  • great performance, viva el Vedder

  • Twisted, melancholy, what-if, lyrics. Very good but not excellent, but the score is excellent, without question.

  • What would you know about it you gormless mong.

  • Eddie and Michael having a ball... Great !!

  • The best

  • elvis, classy freddy blasssie, andy kaufman rip...

  • yes it is

  • These guys have done a lot and will do more..not bad for a rinky dink college radio band whom everyone thought would never sell enough albums to go gold. Way to go, boys! Best wishes to Bill Berry!

  • And gettin Eddie Vetter to come out and whale with them they are doin him a favor there. To all doubters look who is still playing.

  • Is that eddie vedder from pearl jam who comes up and sings with stipe???

  • yep

  • @ Celtics: What have REM done? They are the first alternative band (they were a college radio staple in the 1983-85 time frame) to hit it big. They paved the road so many groups. They sold a ton of albums and for a moment in time were the biggest of all time not just the biggest of their kind

  • hahaha

REM is one of Pioneer of the Alternative rock

    They inspired to many bands

    Are you ignorant?

  • umm...yeah you are..they have been puting out grate alt rock since they started

  • Are you kidding me? They are great examples of pure dedication to music. They toured so much and were pioneers of college rock, and never turned into sellouts. They created classics, and remained true to their art. Without REM, there wouldn't have been Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters and other alternative bands that followed.

  • They have so many songs which were great hits is many countries, like The One I Love, Losing My Religion, Everbody Hurts etc... They began it 27 years before this show and after 25 years a rock band or a singer have to inducted to the Hall of Fame. I think R.E.M. have to be here:)

  • Well...

    30+ years of music.

    30+ albums.

    Directly influencing hundreds other bands.

    Multi-platinum selling.

Dozens of #1 songs for years.

    I don't see what you're missing.

Anyone care to back me up?

  • About 50 million albums sold also helps :P

  • great song great band

  • that's cause REM is better than cheap trick by far

  • Please name 3 hits by Cheap Trick

  • Comment removed

  • Dream Police, Surrender, I want you to want me, helo there, The Flame, there you got 5

  • that means they prob only had 5...lawl

  • Cheap Trick are good, but nowhere near as influential or popular as R.E.M.

  • The biggest snub is Grand Funk Railroad!

  • the bibles creation myth is actually a sumerian creation myth plagiarised to fit

    'the tribe' .

and it is not evidential scientifically or otherwise

  • Yeah, I mean, everyone knows that snakes talk. Those damned evolutionists just cover up the Truth to pursue their immoral lifestyle.

    :)

  • Great song

  • Do you believe they put a man on the moon?

  • Why is Warren Zevon not in the hall of fame?

  • Maybe because he's a one-hit wonder, and his one hit was a novelty song?

  • it's good to see bill back with the band. terrible what happened to him but good to see he could pull out such an important show

  • yeah it is so terrible to see someone decide to be a farmer, everybody in the world should be a fucking rockstar especially you...

    asshole

  • Comment removed

  • i originally posted a remark with probably a worse name toward you than you said toward me. i was talking about him nearly dying which caused him to leave the band.

  • Eeeeeedddddddddddiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeee !!!!!!!!

  • is tht pearl jam front man

  • yes, he is Eddy Vedder, I guess

  • i love andy kaufman, that man is fucking nutz

  • Everyone misses berry, he was an essential part of the band but we still love them - i love all r.e.m. equaly

  • Bill Berry was not just a drummer. He was a writer, arranger, vocalist and bassist. He was an essential part. R.E.M changed forever without him. They're still good just not great.

  • You are f*cking right man, Bill Berry is the soul of R.E.M. without Berry R.E.M. misses his driving force. Bill Berry the Best!

    13111

  • The best version of this song is when they played it with springsteen.

  • why the f**k are people still going on and on about Bill Berry? he quit get over it the band were still great when he left Bill Rieflin is just as good, "a drummer is a drummer"

  • I think people still go on about Bill Berry is that he is a fantastic drummer with a very distinct sound. Berry was very integral to the R.E.M. "sound" that propelled the band to what we still love today. It's nothing against the new drummer... He's fine.

I don't agree that a "drummer is a drummer". Berry has his own sound, and it's really nice to hear it again in these Hall of Fame recordings. I cried dude.

  • Hey waltoss, he didn't quit. He had a brain aneurysm and nearly died. Selfish of him to want to be with his family huh?

    A waltoss is a waltoss.

  • Guys, I do Remember Every Moment spent with your wonderful music.

    THANK YOU

  • Stipe could not have said it any better: R.E.M.- Remember Every Moment.

  • R.E.M. and Eddie Vedder? It doesn't get much better than this.

  • Miss You Bill :(

  • Nice of Eddy to join in. When Bill Berry retired, R.E.M. lost their beat.

  • Berry is great!I miss him in the band

  • damn the bg vox are horrible like always on this song always. The soundmad dropped them real low

  • i love the sound of a rickenbacker

  • It was recently stolen. They mentioned it in the newest Rolling Stone and R.E.M. is offering a reward for its return no questions asked. Who would do that?

  • Well, it was also returned about three weeks ago, so all is well...

  • Berry Buck Mills & Stipe - the way REM should always be

  • holy fuck vedder too oh shit thats sweet

  • I miss bill...:(

  • R.E.M. are the fathers of what is called Alternative Rock today. If you listen to their first albums, you can notice their influences (Country, Punk, Rock). I had the chance to listen all their albums, and I haven't found any song to regret of listening.

  • ...yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah... :)

  • Please, if you get the chance, go see R.E.M. on this tour. They are phenomenally good!

  • i saw then in milan last saturday...i saw them three times and also the last monday in Verona..but the concert in Milan...amazing...great...

  • Going to see them October 24 in Dallas.

  • Andy Kaufman forever !!!!!!!!

  • i don't understand all the eddie vedder bashing going on throughout these comments. this was about rem a great band being honoured. for all of you eddie vedder bashers, rem obviously respects him. and by the way eddie and pearl jam are the greatest rock band ever. not grunge rock.

  • Great song and passion. Pearl jam not from the heart..man that hurts. i feel they are the most humble, honest and respected(by peers) bands still around. Eddie doesnt have to be a screaming punk rocker to be passionate and from the heart.

anyway, i guess this should be a about REM

  • i totally agree with everything you just said

  • It's great band...I love them h*

  • Mike Mills have a problem with his voice but REM and this song are beautiful ;)

  • Is diaperboy american? We call you nappy here lover!

  • Diaper boy is full of shit!

  • (To theonlytruepunk)

Get the hell out of here! How dare you disrespect legends like them!!

  • "Legends"...hahahahahaha. YOu are pathetic and a dolt. Just because you are jealous of their little pantie wearing, bitch slapping performance, is no reason to get irate with me. Got it? Good.

  • How the hell am I jealous, I'm respecting them unlike your sorry ass. Why are you even talking to me? Oh, I know, because you have nothing better to do but waste away at a computer all your life trying to prove you are better than everyone else. Peace out, bitch.

  • You make a good point theonlytruepunk, I don't really care much for Eddie Vedder by himself, I just like it when he's with pearl jam. There are also good points about the songs he lessens down a lot. Now that I've seen those kinds of videos, I agree, just not to that kind of extreme. And sorry about what I said about you.

  • I know, without Nirvana the world wouldn't have been the same. Whether it's good or bad I don't know. But I think Nirvana rocks.

  • don't talk shit about a guy you don't know

  • you are so full of shit...why watch it if you don't like it!!!!!

  • a true punk wouldn't be even associated with music like this...not even to critique it...

and congratulations on this brilliant shot at someone on youtube. everyone will see it and say "man, that dude kicks ass because he called someone a diaperboy"...i know i am. way to be important man.

no wonder punk is so underground...we wouldn't want that kind of wit and intelligence infecting our conformist bland society.

    cheers

  • well you did say fuck a lot of times...so i definetly see your point man. got me good dude.

  • true punk arent you late for a wrist slitting convention

  • No, I was at at your moms ass slapping convention last night. By the looks of it, you are the emo bitch...not me. Don't be mad because I tell the truth. Got it? Good. Just keeping it real, dildo!

  • "By the looks of it"....???

By the looks of it actually you seem like the typical teenage fuck up, amounting to nothing in life. Have you ever been outside? Do you know what light is?

  • Oh my, it looks like we have another dipshit that thinks he is an intellectual, because he went to college. You are now the biggest dildo that I have ever encountered on the internet. What a fucking douche.

  • Actually, I haven't gone to college because I'm 17. Go read a book

  • Oh God, even worse...a mindless sheep that thinks he knows something. You are pathetic. Get a life and figure out what you really like...not what others say you should. Now, go get a hug from mommy and leave reality to the realists.

  • goofing on elvis...kool!

  • wow r.e.m. Eddie Veder and Bill Berry. That's great my top 5 favorite musicans. Thanks for posting this!

  • jack nicholson on acoustic and jesus on 2nd vocal..

  • wow that was awesome, got goosebumps

  • Eddie Vedder yeah!!

  • why does one of the roadies join in at second verse?

  • berry buck mills and stipe best ever

  • gran cancion,grandes musicos.

  • it's nice as well. it's cool to see they all still get along fine. what a great band.

  • They got along fine on stage...but afterwards. Oh boy, there was a bunch of hair pulling, panty wedgies, and bitch slapping going on...it was terrible.

  • That's what I meant. I hate segmenting rock, rock is rock. Seattle had great bands going back to Hendrix, but i think the true punk/rock/grunge upstarts were the 'Mats and the Huskers. Both were/are highly regarded, but almost seemed to resist oncoming fame. The Seattle bands did not, just a fact. Not enough props for the Minneapolis scene, just like Hole and L7 getting more fame than their female pioneers, Minneapolis' Babes In Toyland.

  • I don't know...all I know for sure is that the Mats, Husker Du were a part of the "punk" movement in the early 80's...I still don't know what the fuck "grunge" is...is it a bunch of boring "metal" music played in flannels??? That is what I always felt it was...it bored me to tears.

  • why is no-one talking about bill?

  • who the fuck is bill????

  • Bill Berry, of course. He hasn't drummed with the band in years, this is a rare moment.

  • Is Bill Berry related to Bilbo Baggins??? Now, that would be something, wouldn't it?

  • because their are all arguing with that theonlytruepunk douche

  • Fuck, I hate Eddie Vedder...what a piece of shit.

  • Eddie Vedder is keeping real rock alive. Grunge is bullshit, Cobain was good but no better than Vedder. Look who's still standing from Seattle, Cornell is Mr. Hollywood now. By the way, so-called grunge was invented in Minneapolis by The Replacements, Husker Du, and Soul Asylum in the 80's. You must learn.

  • Huh?? I fucking hate that so called grunge shit...as for the 'Mats, Husker Du and Soul Asylum....they were great bands. I saw all those bands in the early '80's. Even though that bitch, the Yoko Ono of Soul Asylum...Wynona Ryder, made SA become a bunch of pop crap.

  • Your opinion on music holds no merit. You listen to Crass.

  • YOu are a fine one to talk, dildo!

  • Hahahaha...Echo and the Bunnymen and Radiohead??? Hahahahahaha...I have the first couple of Echo and the Bunnymen records(vinyl), if you want them I will mail them to you for free. Just ask. I got tired of their whiny ass music with nothing to say, back in 1982. Crass will always be great! If you weren't apolitical it would all make such perfect sense.

  • I'm not apolitical, they just make bad music.

  • Actually, it is very beautiful music. I suppose you must have an ear for it. They chose their message over making pretty music...anyone can make pretty music with nothing to say.

  • Just because they're not talking about politics doesn't mean they're saying nothing. :)

Anyway, I was just kidding really. I hate Crass but I don't think less of you for listening to them. I also don't understand your need to express your opinion so strongly all over the place. Chill.

  • How could you hate Crass??? It is the most unique noise I have ever heard...brilliant. Take care

  • Peace.

  • Oh, alright. I have one question..."Who put the shit in #10???? Hahahaha

  • Very cool live performance... I heard Man on the moon a couple of times live in 2003 and 2005, but this is the best performance of this song I've seen.

  • Do we have to argue?

    Just watch the video.

  • kurt cobain is the god of grunge and eddie vedder is awsome and R.E.M kicks ass so fuck off haters LONG LIVE GRUNGE AND KURT COBAIN

  • boss vid. vedder is a legend an so are r.e.m. an know hes not a tool an doesnt upstage stipe

  • Eddie Vedder is far from a Tool... Only an idiot who doesnt appreciate good music would say that. Your probably a Kurt Cobain lover, which is sad.

  • I disagree. I don't like Eddie Vedder, nor do I like Kurt Cobain, but to shoot out a blanket statement like "if you think x person is x, you bad taste in music" is just ignorant.

  • If it's sad to love Kurt's music, consider me miserable. He was a great musician and a great songwriter, and despite their "feud" in the early 90's Eddie would say the same.

  • Eddie Vedder is a tool

  • wow that was unbelievable i was blown away to see eddie vedder come out on stage, and to see bill berry on drums was also spectacular, gave me goosebumps, and eddie vedder did not upstage michael stipe in the least bit, showed him much respect, even looked at him for permission to sing the next verse,

  • Awesome!!!!!

  • Eddie Vedder upstages Michael stipe

  • Nice nice =)

  • REM=PEARLJAM
