  • one of my favorite hawaiian songs

  • Yeah, if there was a crackseed store on every corner anymore, and this music playing all over the world, people would appreciate the Aloha & peacefulness of the Hawai'ian people. Some may have taken almost everything from our kupuna, but not their heartfelt music & song. !!!

  • Kevierae

My eyes too, teared as I read your story.

  • When i go this is the song i want at my wake played over and over, anybody heard their new verson? junk

  • takes me back to dimly lit evenings sharing space with sunday manoa back in the 70's-part of my soul lives there-mahalo nui loa

  • This heavenly infusion probably lowers your blood pressure 10 points by the time the last note is played.

  • A very good friend of mine who passed away a year and a half ago sang Pua Lilia- his favorite song. The song has special meaning and I can never have enough of it. Now I have begun to sing the song and is my favorite song too!

  • This is such a beautiful song that brings back so many memories. The story about the father stationed in Korea made me cry also. Hawaii is such a special place in our hearts for all of us.

  • i bet the health of the worlds people would be better if they ate cracked seed instead of hamburgers.

  • Beautiful...

Me Ke Aloha Pau Ole >>> TLC

  • Is Peter Moon sick?

  • Brings back wonderful memories of my childhood

  • @Kevierae, what a story! Chicken skin.

  • ono!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • come home already....hawaii got troubles but it is still your home and filled with people with true aloha spirit still.....small kid days, da beach, the jungles, the geckos, the guavas, mmmmmmmmmmmm...sunsets, waves, aloha aloha aloha.....

  • I wanna go home already... :'(

  • One of my most favorite songs. So many happy memories, the 70's, getting married, all the kids coming, life in Kalihi Valley. Aloha all.

  • This and Guava Jam , are two of my favorites, as well as most of their beginning albums by the Brothers Cazimero. Roberts falsetto style, his operatic voice, his brother Roland on the guitar, and Peter Moon's stylish ukulele renderings, reminds us when there was a Hawaiian Renaissance, when it was no longer shameful to be Hawaiian, but proud of your heritage. In those days, the musicians were true masters of their instruments, not the Jawaiian or hip hop of today. More to music than just words.

  • @hankakah true dat! couldn't have said it better. You can feel the mana inside.

  • chicken skin........

  • Listen to Peter Moon...The God of all strings.

  • As long as I can remember, this album and this song in particular represented much happier times of my life......

Those care free days when most everyone took the time out to enjoy our beautiful surroundings and each other's company.

    A Much Happier Hawaii...

  • probably in the top 5 on the best hawaiian songs ever recorded. beautiful and timeless.

  • This song reminds me of Saturday mornings waking up to my Mom vacuming the living room and my brothers in the Yard raking the leaves. That was my old Hawaii I remember.

  • One of my most favorite songs from one of my most favorite albums. Mahalo for the post

  • Robert Uluwehi Cazimero has a voice of gold and a heart to match...He is the ipitome of Hawaiian music..

  • My Name is Alohekea and always had this song sung to me as a Lullabye by my Grandmother, Mother or Aunties. Later to find out that I was named after my great great grand uncle Alfred Alohekea. The Most Beautiful Song in the World!

  • When my father was stationed in Korea, he took his ukulele. One very homesick night, he started singing this song, strumming his uku. In the distance, out in the night, he heard someone singing this song, too. He walked towards the singing voice, that was also getting closer. Finally, he met-up with another soldier, also from Hawai'i, also homesick for his wife and family, who had heard my father singing! My sister sang this at Dad's funeral, recalling this story. Not a dry eye in the house!

  • wow that's such a nice story

  • Thanks for your reply! What's amazing is that I did not hear about this until after he died, so to have my sister sing this at his two services (we live in the mainland and had a service here, first) was very poignant and touching, indeed!

  • maika'i, sorry for ur lost

  • That is a most touching story, and a testament to the heart and soul of Hawaiian mele. Mahalo for sharing your story.

    Me ke aloha,

    Auntie Wanda

  • @wjc1952

True, unfortunately the true potentials of Hawaiian music, wisdom, culture and other attributes were not afforded its sovereignty to develop fully for the world to benefit from.

There are many sad events for native peoples who were subjected to aggressiveness and lost forever their true identities, save for a few musical achievements like these.

  • @Kevierae Beautiful image. You write very well. !!

I am a Kamaaina Haole who had to leave for family reasons with my local girl wife a very long time ago. My heart aches for Hawai'i and my island friends.

    Tanks Bra

  • @Kevierae amazing story, true the hawaiian lifestyle

  • @Kevierae you just gave me the meanest case of chicken skin, my braddah. my aloha to you and your 'ohana.

  • @popokali91 Thank you, brah! As I mentioned previously, I had never heard this story until my father died.

  • Ka HaleLani o Akua Manaloa HooAlu Kona Kahuna i ke Wai O Kane......At the Lord House is thee eternal Spring .......Follow along my child........

  • Mahalo nui loa for posting dis! So sweet! Please post more Sunday Manoa from this album.

  • Robert Cazimero has such a spectacular voice, and this mele showcases his talent so well. On the surface, the mele is so poetic and beautiful, ah, but if you understand some of the kaona..... What a group of musicians - Sunday Manoa.

  • And Peter Moon's `ukulele - beyond compare. Wow.
